I think the message they're intending to put out there is "we're here, we're queer, we will not disappear" while doing the equivalent of wiping their asses with pages from the Gospel.

The way to fight it is to put up the same mock gay nativity scene next to it, but with a baby Omar Mateen (the Orlando shooter), in the manger...complete with toy Ar15 and a sound track of a mullah spewing a bunch of gay-hate rehtoric
