What do you think of a Democratic Representative having served in Congress for over 28 years? Anyone in Texas ever thought about term limits?

Term limits, a line item veto, and laws forbidding ex representatives from becoming lobbyists would cure many ills - for Texas and the US. Trouble is, the Congress (Tx and US) would have to vote for all these and that will never happen.

Sheila's district was indeed gerrymandered to ensure a Dem. rep. She handily wins her primary challenges by 75% each vote. She's not going anywhere. I have to say, though, that she at least earns her money. Wherever there are cameras, she's there, at every press conference in our area.

Getting ready to shoot the M16 for the first time in the military I heard someone coming off the line say it was made by Mattel. We were used to the Garand and these new guns were Colts but after shooting it I had to agree with him. Not just due to the plastic furniture but because of that silly spring noise in my ear every time I pulled the trigger. Combined with the miniscule caliber it really did feel like a toy.

That spring noise bothered me also especially on FA. Being friends with most of our SWAT team and as they rented our gun club for practice and Quals, I had quite a few chances to fire that gun. This was back when it actually shot full auto not the 3 shot burst the more modern guns had!

That was the only way a civilian in the peoples republic of NY would get to play with a buzz gun and I sure as shit took full advantaged of it!

What do you think of a Republican Representative having served in Congress nearly 50 years? Alaska Congressman Don Young's first term was during the Nixon administration.

No one thinks about term limits. There are 6 or 7 members of congress that have been in office 35 years or more. All should have been shown the door decades ago. Geriatrics like Pelosi, Feinstein, Schumer and McConnell should have been put out to pasture.

My first time we were all lined up on the fantail and given a single mag to shoot on semi-auto at trash which had been tossed over the rail while being supervised by the ships head gunners mate (dude's standing right behind me).


When the order to open fire was given I started scanning for targets of opportunity instead. Spotted a gull about 300 yards out tread milling into a head wind. As luck would have it a guy further down the line caught a failure to feed and called the GM over to fix it. Oh well, since he's distracted Flipped the switch to oughta get 'em and walked a couple 3-4 shot bursts out to the target. By the time I'd honed in on where to hold a half dozen other guys saw what I was doing and also began shooting at the bird. I dumped the rest of the mag and watched that bird do some world class acrobatics. Splashes everywhere

When the GM realized what was happening and bitch slapped everyone I was just standing there looking all innocent and stuff
