Default is 40,000 miles reasonable for needing new front brake pads?

Is it your raptor? For a sporty truck like that, I wouldn't think it's unreasonable....although it is pretty early.

yes. took it in for service and think im getting ****ed. told them i wanted only what the book says. they said book says transmission service and tune up, plus regular stuff. to the tune of about 600 bucks. now telling me i need new front pads and that there is a leak in the power steering. I know for a fact the power steering never leaked befor ethey got it..

when i get it back, if the book dont say all this shit, they are getting one shitty survey result and lost a customer.

Request to see the pads they pull out...if it's not on the wear bar, demand they put them back on? I'd probably drive till I can hear them.

thought about that. shit like this pisses me off. im a fool me once kinda guy and will go along with it this time. but will never return. hopefully when i get the book it will all be on the up and up. if not, it just pisses me off that people try to get what they can now instead of good customer service to get it time after time.

old bull and young bull on top of a hill. young bull looks down on the herd of cows and says "hey, lets run down there and **** one of them cows!" Old bull says " no, lets walk down there and **** em all".

Im an old bull.

I used to get 700-1000 miles out of brakes on the Mazda, so you're doing pretty well.

45,000 is the life on brake pads for the Raptor.

Transmission service is due at 30,000 miles.

Spark plugs are good up to 100k.

To me, it's an impossible question to answer about the brake pads. It all depends on how aggressively you drive: The life span could be 20K-100K miles. My Jaguar has 72K miles on it, original front and rear pads.

How does this dealer define "needs brake pads"?
Exactly how much material is left?

"Customer requests we change spark plugs, fuel filter, and injector service" means it isn't scheduled maint.
