The power and comfort is gonna get under your skin, trust me. I'm looking at either an AMG GT or AMG S-Class Coupe as my next trade up.

Enjoy, and Deutschland Uber Alles!
The 5 hour drive back from VA was very smooth and enjoyable and profoundly better than all other cars I've owned.

I bought a little '03 C32 AMG just to dink around with. Mrs. Simpleman thought it wasn't a great plan to have 6 cars so I sold a few and got this instead.

Was eyeballing that AMG GT while educating myself on the models available. That thing is sex on wheels

In the past, AMG's were like the BMW M Series...regular cars taken off the line and fitted with high performance engines, transmissions and suspensions. The AMG GT is the first to be built from the ground up by the AMG division. I test drove one of the early models and I can tell you that it was painstakingly difficult not to pull out my checkbook right then and there. But as anyone who has dealt with these types of vehicles knows, you never, EVER buy new (I mean, if you're printing money in your basement that's another thing). The depreciation on AMG's and BMW M series cars is staggering and will send you into anaphylactic shock. In many cases as high as 50% after 3 years.

Also, those who buy have to know AND ACCEPT that this type of vehicle is going to cost you money. You're not going to be able to go to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. If you have the automatic leveling suspension (known as SLS) and it goes out, figure around 5 grand for repairs. Ignition coil packs on a V8 can be as much as $2300 and that's not counting labor. I'm not even going to talk about the V12 (which is no longer made). When I had my Lamborghini, a new clutch was an "engine out" procedure...$6K. Thank God I never had that to deal with. That being said, when you step on the gas and the car makes "that sound", it all seems worth it.

The car you have is not near the bleeding edge of AMG's lineup yet it's still blisteringly fast and gives a superb ride. Keep up your regular services and you should be just fine.
