It's all TAXES.......no way in hell we can send 'scrap' aluminum to China, have them send back wheels.......and be price competitive.....IF

we quit letting our various .gov structures rip off all the manufacturing plants.....

tax the property 50 million/year, tax the transportation in/out of the plant.....

tax hell outta any energy use by the plant.....electric rates through the roof.....etc.......much less all the possible health related crap these daze.....

so when our own .govs rip off any manufacturing plant enough to make all that shipping costs to/from China be SO much less than out the plant door here, that the trucks/RR/planes running dist. for/across this nation there is something RONG!!!!!

systum is rigged against the typical AMERICAN citizen from lawyers on down the list to street sweepers.....

Nope, outsourcing manufacturing to China was corporate driven. Walmart, specifically. Consumers embraced lower prices and shittier products.

Yep. My dad is a good example. He complains about US prices, and Chinese quality. Until people are ready to suck it up, that is what we have to deal with. I believe over time, if people stopped buying Chinese, prices and income will load level. The machine will start to feed itself and everyone will benefit.

on average, people and companies are selfish. they look out for their interests first. they don't look out for the benefit of the person/company selling a product or service. when is the last time you asked someone "hey, are you charging enough for this so that you'll be in business next year, let me throw in a few extra bucks" i sure have never heard nor said this.

many years ago i looked into starting a for profit woodworking business. after some checking, i figured out that some level of .gov would always have their hand out for money, and in addition to paying the county over $400 on day one, they'd also want me to keep good records so I could faithfully collect and pay taxes for their benefit. FICA for the feds, income for the feds, income for the state, sales taxes for the county, and i concluded that over half the money would end up in their pockets at the end of each day.

pass.

they get nothing, i'll do this for a hobby, and once in a while people will about cover my costs.

When we moved here the house needed a lot of work. My BIL has lived here for 20 some years. He turned us on to a local handyman. The guy is really good but not necessarily the sharpest knife in the drawer. He did a lot of work for us the first year and would routinely ask for significantly less than the going rate. Several times we insisted he take more than he asked for. We even gave him a “Christmas Bonus” after the first year. We haven’t needed him for anything in a while but I am sure if we did, he would be here. Some people may think that was foolish but we consider it treating someone of lesser means well for doing well. I happen to know he does a fair amount of gratis work for people that are worse off than him

We are slipping into a over taxed population. COVID will accelerate it.

The Dems are all for more government to include paying all the taxes to support the inefficiencies.

Sad actually. I figured it up in 2018. I added up all the taxes and governmental fees I pay here in Georgia between Federal/State/County and sales tax and it got close to 45%. I can't imagine what places like Illinois/New York are like.

I actually want to protest my $1400 school tax if they never hold classes in the actual schools here locally.

They don't need it if operating costs to run the buildings isn't there.

The buildings still need electricity, air conditioning, cleaning, lawn maintenance and all the other sundry expenses even if they sit empty. Not to mention whatever expense the district incurred providing all those "free" computers, and the audio/video/internet infrastructure to go all online. There will be deficit spending in schools countrywide no matter how classes are presented this year.

The district should make every attempt at lowering costs but they won't. Government has a culture of not giving a shit when it comes to stuff like that.
