I had a 77 Ford Ranchero for quite a few years. Made a great second car and hauled all sorts of stuff at one time or another.

They had the chance and they shit their pants.

Before everyone dog piles on about Pontiac, you need to realize that there has not been a true Pontiac built in 30 years. Other than the early Firebirds and the TA in the late 70's, the Pontiac line was absolute shit.

Pontiac killed themselves when they started gluing that ridiculous-ass cladding on every damn thing they sold.

Plus, I never forgave for selling the Richard Petty Gran Prix with that crappy six.

It sounds much nice to call it "Luxury with Attitude" rather than "Ridiculous-ass Cladding"...

The El Camino & Ranchero were originally marketed and bought by cowboys and ranchers...and some contractors as their Saturday night "date car"...&/or the Sunday "go-to-meeting" car.

Of course, this was back in the day, when pickups were trucks, and not available with 12 speaker stereos...heated & cooled leather seating...navigation...and tampon dispenser...

Then, of course...the hot rodders got a hold of them in the late 60's & 70's...which was cool.

Today...a car/truck has limited market appeal. partly because you can buy a pickup that rivals the nicest automobiles, in comfort & amenities.

I think the tampon dispenser is the only thing my new truck did not come with. Not sure why, because there is plenty of room.

True. But, talk about false advertising: The ads wanted you to believe that you got the best of both worlds: i.e., both a car and a truck. Actually, you got the worst of both worlds: A car with little room inside and a truck that couldn't haul or tow shit.

And before I forget, he was so fukin' FAT, he could not get his lard out of a reclining lawn chair. I almost pissed myself I laughed so hard,,

anyone who bought an El Camino/Ranchero for heavy hauling or towing were ignorant morons...the grandfathers/fathers of today's Obama voting zombies.

If you're not hauling stuff every week; if you don't have a hobby which requires a tow vehicle; then just go down to U-Haul. They rent full size pickups for $20/day plus mileage these days...

Lots of people buy trucks, and never get a single scratch in the bed paint or the bed liner...

I'm still glad that GM is willing to try it (UTE).

I wouldn't be surprised to the the ute below those numbers too.
In my G8 GT, I averaged 19mpg driving on I-270 in Montgomery Co, MD in rush hour.

When we drove on the interstate in western MD, we averaged 24. Not too shabby for a full size family sedan.

Even if I wouldn't buy it, there are still a lot of people who might.

Since the development work for the vehicle is already done, the incremental cost shouldn't be too much to bring it to the states as a new El Camino. Why not do so?

About the only thing it would be good for is faggots like ChaseLS2 hauling 50,000 tampons home from walmart.

That thing is a POS.
You seem to be on the fence about this car.

Thats in Aussie dollars and with a very high vehicle tax.

That car here with an LS2 in it would go for mid to high $30's.
