Posted: May 31, 2011 1:21 PM EDT Updated: May 31, 2011 2:29 PM EDT ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - A teen in an ice cream cone outfit was attacked while advertising for a ice cream shop on Sunday, Rock Hill police said. The incident happened just after 4:30 pm near the Marble Slab Creamery store on 548 John Ross Parkway when a 17-year-old boy was in the mascot suit for the store, according to a police report. The teen in the suit, which is a giant ice cream cone called "Slabby," had a girl, 17, helping him. As the two were in front of Dick's Sporting Good trying to get customers for the ice cream shop, a dark hunter green Ford Explorer pulled up beside them, police wrote in the report. The teen in the mascot suit was tackled and his knee was injured, police said. A manager who was nearby tried to get the license plate on the SUV, but it was covered by cardboard. The occupants of the SUV where four "juveniles" who were not wearing shirts and appeared to have on swimming trunks, police wrote. The SUV had rust on the hood, police said in the description. Teen charged after tackling ice cream shop mascot, police say
Monday, June 6th, 11:24 am ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - A teenage boy has been charged after police in Rock Hill say he attacked another teen who was dressed as a mascot for an ice cream shop. According to police, a 16-year-old is facing charges of assault and battery in the 3rd degree after he tackled another teen near the Marble Slab Creamery store on 548 John Ross Parkway last month. The incident happened just after 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 29th, according to the original police report. A 17-year-old was dressed as a giant ice cream cone called "Slabby" and had a 17-year-old girl helping him. As the two were in front of Dick's Sporting Good trying to get customers for the ice cream shop, a dark hunter green Ford Explorer pulled up beside them, police wrote in the report. The teen in the mascot suit was tackled and his knee was injured, police said. A manager who was nearby tried to get the license plate on the SUV, but it was covered by cardboard. Officers say the teen charged was one of four "juveniles" who was reportedly in the SUV when it drove away. He has been petitioned to family court on the charges, police told WBTV. |
