maybe the puzzy Prius or the Volt; but it makes no sense to ban a Tesla... it' s for the elites anyways. Very few would be driven around in Texas. The Tesla is nothing for an oil baron to fear.

Are you happy about the ban in TX or are in support of his business model to eliminate the franchise dealerships and sell direct?

I for one like the idea of selling direct. Uniform pricing across the board. No hard sell, no let me get my sales manager BS, no hidden fee's loaded into the financing etc.. This could be a game changer for sure.

If it's outside the current laws then Tesla and Elon Musk are welcome to make their campaign contributions to support the election of legislators that are keen for the necessary change to the law. They don't deserve, nor should they get, an exception.

Same thing was said about Saturn and their no-haggle pricing. Problem was the product was crap for the price.

I will assume that if you have the money for, and interest in, a Tesla, then you might enjoy a road trip to get one. State will still get their tax dollars, but you won't be paying some guy for a suit from JC Penney

They have one at the Khols in San Antonio near our house. Funny thing is it isnt free. You have to use a credit card to pay for the charge.

Texas didn't ban the sale of Teslas.

Texas didn't pass a bill during this session exempt Tesla from existing franchise laws.

Stupid law, as I understand it.

But it wasn't targeting Tesla...it already existed.

While I DO think we need to cut welfare for hungry children, I agree with the rest of the post.

Texas has no business telling a product seller how to sell his product. We have the same kind of 3 tier system when it comes to booze sales. Booze, beer and wine HAS to go through a wholesaler before it gets sold to the liquor store or grocery store. For all Perry's business friendly environment lip service, Texas still does business the old fashioned way.....crony capitalism.

Tesla or any other comer should be able to sell their cars in whatever manner they see fit. This is another reason I hate Perry, although this crap has been going on long before him. Ann Richards, Mark White, Bush....they all continued this kind of anti business regulation. Pub or Dem, it didn't matter. Crony capitalism.
