Default How is it to fight against the U.S. Marines?

Yeah, many decades ago my Army buddy trained with the Marines for 2 weeks in Okinawa. Upon his return, he remarked, in time of war, *uck the Army, go with the Marines their animals.
Short video attached.

We used to have an annual Navy vs. Marines paintball battle. About 50 people per side.

The Marines would always work on tactics and battle plans. The Navy (usually half drunk, sometimes with beer on the battlefield) would run out and start shooting.

In my 6 years of participation, the Navy was 6-0. Pissed them off beyond belief.

With that said, if it was real bullets, I certainly wouldn't want to be on the other side of the Marines.

These days all you have to do is misgender them and they will all be crying in their foxholes.

Marines earned their names, Devil Dogs and have always been a feared fighter..
Here is my Great Uncle, WW1 US Marine Machine Gunner. He fought with Dan Daly in Battle of Belleau Wood.
He is not in the 3rd Photo, Dan is in the center.

My Grandpa’s uncle was a Devil Dog killed at Belleau Wood. I’m named after him.

As far as the OP goes, I would suggest go ask a survivor of fighting against the USMC, that’s if you can manage to find one of course.

I am glad I have the Marines on our side. Dont let anyone tell you they are not what we think they are.
Remember when a Marine was captured in Fallujah? I believe a Marine Col said, do whatever you have to get him. Other side found out, and said, F this, and bailed. Not sure of the whole story, but it sounded like they Col said, ROE can kiss my ass, go get him Marines.

The Marine Corps philosophy *pre-obama/biden* is fantastic. I wish the Army would adopt much of it.

The Navy exists to transport the Marines into battle.

My late uncle was a Marine drill sergeant at Camp Lejeune, NC in the Vietnam era.

Only two kinds of people understand Marines. Other Marines and the enemy.

Now I'll say my real reply...

Marines are not typically on long term plans as they are there to break way. I think when left to their own thoughts, Marines think the enemy is smarter than they really are. Marines are not there to think strategy, they are there to **** up the enemy's world. And they do it better than anybody.

I met a Japanese officer who survived the battle at Guadalcanal. He told me the seasoned Japanese forces were unprepared for the ferocity and brutally of the USMC.

When I told my father, who was in that battle, about this comment his first reaction was " We let me get away".!

Explains a great deal about their attitude.

Don’t ever call a Marine Drill Instructor a Drill Sergeant, unless you like to be in world of hurt.

Knew a good dood in high school, Richard, one badarse mofo, always started fights, never lost one.
He went into The Marines, Recon, was top of class, leaders called him ROCK,,, he was impressed with his nickname.
On grad day his folks were at Camp Lejeune, he introduced them to his Sargeant after the ceremony, and Richard thanked his Sergeant for always calling him by his nickname.
Then, the Sergeant asked Richard what he thought his nickname meant, he replied strong, stable, formidable, always someone for the unit to count on.
The Sergeant replied, "No, dumb as a ROCK'.

Lost track of Richard, I am pretty sure he did his 20.

I wouldn't have wanted to serve with anyone else. I knew when I joined I wanted to go with the Marines. I learned they used the Navy Corpsmen for medical and walked next door to the Navy recruiter and signed a contract that assured I was going to be attached to the Marines.
