It's much easier for insurance companies to replace cars than to fix injuries, even minor ones. To them a broken arm or a soft tissue injury is a six-figure loss.

Which the people in that Ford had, only not minor injuries. Chevy driver walked away from it.

Edit: I was a little off about that accident.

Quote:
According to state police, a 2011 International DuraStar work truck, driven by Brady E. McAfee, 22, of Depauw, Ind., failed to stop and hit the back of a Chevrolet pickup truck, which caused that truck to slam into a maroon 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The chain-reaction crash continued as that truck then collided with a white 2012 Ford pickup truck hauling an equipment trailer loaded with a mini-excavator, which then struck a 2017 Ford Fiesta.

Trooper said the driver of the maroon 2000 Ford F-150, Douglas E. Borders, 42, of Scottsburg, Ind., and his passenger, Christina M. Coy, 36, also of Scottsburg, died at the scene.

So I picked up a Dodge Charger for a test drive...I dig it, but it needs more room for the car seat and a few more cup holders would be nice for our car pooling.
If you do pick up that Charger, be sure to remove the splitter guards.

The dealership had a whole rack of pool noodles available for the splitters.

The more i think on it the less likely we will keep it, its just too tight for kiddo in his car seat.

Yeah, you are right on that one. The passenger compartment isn't supposed to crumple. The 1997-2003 F-150 are known to do that. Ford really ****ed up on that model.

You could also look at the new Palisade by Hyundai. I looked at one locally and not too bad of a looking vehicle. About the size of the Jeep and a little bigger than my wife Trailblazer SS. Downside is it is a V-6 twin turbo 291 HP. Didn't drive it but just snooping for a replacement for the SS to fit the Bernese Mountain Dogs in. You think a car seat is hard to fit, try the 160LB fur baby.

You are correct. That was a 2000 model. My bad.

My wife is an 08, Black Granite with 23K on the clock. Not ready to let it go but she keeps wanting an electric VW van or now maybe the Hummer?

I keep seeing these nice vehicles when I am not ready to buy. There are 3 or 4 used cars I have seen lately I would be interested in, but it will be about 6 months until I am ready and they will be gone.

Check out the Hyundai Equus/Genesis G90.

I just picked up a 2013 Equus and I LOVE it.

429hp 5.0L V8 and an ASSton of legroom in the back.

Looking at the specs, the Equus has the same legroom as the Yukon. The G90 is an inch less.

You can get G90 in AWD now too.

Chris,

If you're looking for a sedan, take a look at the VW Passat. For a mid-size car, it has plenty of legroom front and rear. Had a '12 and a '15. Very reliable and great on gas.

We had a large dog crate in the backseat when we got Loki. If his crate could fit, your child seat will fit, with plenty of room to spare.

If you're looking for another truck, I would recommend the '19 or '20 RAM 1500 Crew Cab. There is plenty of room in the backseat area. I can actually sit behind myself, which is something I can't do in most vehicles (could do it in the Passat too). With the rear seats up, there is more space than a lot of CUVs.

One of the reasons i grabbed the charger was to see if i could replace both our cars with a charger and a ram. The charger isn't going to work, but a left over 2019 ram is still a good possibility...my Yukons getting the warranty work then an appraisal. Well see where the numbers come back.

I really like the dodge radio with carplay.

We had a ram loaner and loved it the car seat fit perfectly.

I'm thinking about getting a Charger next, or a Challenger even. Maybe a Hellcat. Love the sounds the 5.7 Hemi makes.

The transmission in the RAM is sorted as well. No hunting for gears while cruising around town. It will find the right gear when you punch it, of course.

I hate the transmission in my 'Mero as it seems to be constantly hunting for the right gear. Very annoying when driving in town.

Thats good to hear, the 8speed in the yukon is by far my least favorite thing, although i think most of my issues are coming from the torque converters.

The 5.7 in this charger sounds really nice!
