CCW for voting?

I’m pretty sure I need my ID to vote but my DL is expired. I’m hoping to recover from this health issue before the election (I’ll need to spend a day at DMV) but if I can’t, does anyone know of one can use CCW?

Seems like I could. It’s a valid, Federal ID. I remember losing my ID in California and using CCW at LAX. Holy shit did I get the stink eye from every airline and TSA employee. ****ing pansies.

In 2012 during the general election, I gave them my Florida concealed carry permit.

She looked at it suspiciously. I told her it was issued by a state government entity.

She called her manager. The manager asked me if I had a driver license.

I told her it had been revoked.


(I was wearing my full Deputy uniform at the time).



I asked her if there was some reason it couldn't be used. She went and spoke to someone else, and they said go ahead.

So I did.

First, Texas is accepting expired DL's for all sorts of things these days, as they know they have a backlog because they closed for so long. Second, yes, your CCW license is OK to vote with. There are several other things you can use as well to satisfy the ID requirement.

Couple of years ago my wife and I were going on vacation and taking our golf clubs. I dropped her off at curbside with the clubs and other bags. She asked for my DL since they would want that for checking bags. I gave it to her and went to park the car. Come back to the airport and she had gone ahead and cleared TSA and was sitting in a bar. I get up to the TSA check point and hand her my Illinois FOID card (firearm owners ID, required in the state of Illinois if you want to buy a gun or ammunition ). The airport was Saint Louis MO. The TSA moron looked at it and said it wasn’t a valid ID.
I pointed out that it had my picture and was issued by a state agency Illinois State Police vs Illinois DMV. Also it required a background check where a drivers license doesn’t. She still didn’t want to take it so I asked for a supervisor. He came over, took one look at it and said ok

A couple of years ago I went to title a car. Gave her my DL and she asked for a second form of ID. I gave her my CCW. She said she couldn't take it. I asked are you kidding? Any idiot can get a driver's license. I had to pass a local PD, the TBI and FBI background check to get a CCW permit. They used one of my other tag records to make it work . Beauracricy. Jeez.
