I just bought it on iTunes to watch again. Christ I'm old. Next up...Silver Streak.

I remember Richard Pryor talking about filming Stir Crazy...

He said they filmed it at a real prison in Arizona. He went on to say that 90% of the convicts in Arizona are black, which is interesting because there are no black people in Arizona.

Early/mid 80's, had a security job, TS clearance...woopie doo......and living outside Wash DC then.....one of the stops was the Wash DC prison, located in N. Virginia....one of many prison stops, but this one was interesting, the population in there was about 95 percent black, and the head security guard was too....he was taller than me and I was 6'5", and at least 300 lbs, muscle, not fat........I noted the inmates were more quiet than most prisons I visited....
So I asked him about it.....he laughed and said that a new inmate comes in there and thinks he going to RUN the joint, so he would get the guards to lock him in the cell alone with the hot shot newby.....

only ONE guy go walk out in a few hours.......nuff said.......
