I have a very hard time understanding how a restructure of the insurance coverage will affect the cost of running a hospital.

The only positive thing is that there theoretically could reduce unpaid care due to no coverage of poor coverage. Theoretically, that shifts the burden of that from the insured patients (insurance benefits) to hopefull a broader group (basically taxpayers)

I say theoretically because those causing the problems with bad debts in hospitals are most likely going to forego coverage just like before and hope not to get caught. Even in they got caught, they had much rather pay the pittance of a fine.

And those 74 officers- with an average of 8,500 employees each, that is not your typical hospital.

I am calling bullshit on this one again, Joecoool!

But thanks for posting

From the attached article,

"This is probably related to efforts to diminish hospital acquired conditions, medication errors, and unnecessary re-admissions, as encouraged by financial penalties in the ACA."

I asked my primary care Doc about if he was going to retire, or stick around, I like the guy, good man, hate to lose him and his Walk in clinic....wife dreads the loss also....but he says all the individual Docs have to make a decision to either retire, or go join a large group practice or work for a hospital.....

He is not happy and got a bit upset about the topic.....

My primary care physician apologized because he was going to have to spend more time typing into the computer than talking to me.

He also said due to the new templates being forced on them he will no longer be able to treat anything but what I scheduled. No more asking if I have any other issues. I will have to have a new appointment.

(granted, the above items are not part of ObamaCare...they are items that were on the list before that).

He stated he will no longer be able to see as many patients. He will have to start dropping patients that he has had for years.

He will no longer be able to dictate the results of a visit and have nurses put it into a computer. He has to do it manually, taking up more of his time (I believe this is an ObamaCare item, but I could be mistaken. It may be a part of the same items as above).

It's all a mess. ObamaCare is messing up insurance. Other items are messing up care.

And it's not like Medicare wasn't causing enough problems for hospitals as it was...

From the OP: "The survey wasn't scientific by any means, but in a speculative conversation that's proceeding mostly by anecdote, these individuals have a better vantage point on the changes that health reform is making to actual health-care systems than virtually anyone else."

Nuff said. Wonder which hospitals they picked. Betcha they could find 74 executives of this type willing to recite the mantra in DC alone.

Nope. They surveyed ALL 5,274 of them and 74 agreed with the story they wanted to write.

Phil, you gonna defend this bullshit, or admit that you cherry picked an article that, itself, cherry picked respondents to get the desired outcome?

Still trying to figure out what kind of questions were asked or what kind of idiots were responding:

55% think quality will be significantly better
38% think quality will be somewhat better

25% think cost will be significantly better
66% think cost will be somewhat better

Ok...so cost and quality...those should be the two measures, right?

But,

15% think it will be significantly better overall
50% think it will be somewhat better overall

So, if cost and quality are both improving, what is it that some of these people think won't get better?

Looking at the rest of the responses, they pretty much make no sense overall.

And logically, it makes not a bit of sense.

The One's latest edict is that those millions who lost their insurance as a direct result of O'Care will be able to claim a "hardship" exemption, which will exempt them from paying the penalty for no longer having insurance, since the O'Care plans are unaffordable.

I'm sure that will be some small comfort to those folks who, when they need hospitalization that they cannot pay for, won't have to worry about paying sky high hospital bills AND the O'Care penalty.

And in the meantime the young, healthy buyers whose forced participation in this clusterf*&k is the keystone to provide an imaginary veneer of solvency are now exempt. Brilliant.

This man TOLD us that the HC policies of the USA were going to fail, exactly how they would fail and then told us how to fix it .

Yet the Politicians in office refuse to listen for one simple reason It takes the money out of their hands and puts in back in the citizens hands. Thats a transfer of power they cannot tolerate.

And we have the progressive tools and fools on the left demanding we take MORE money from citizens, give it to government even after decades of repeated and colossal failures

Add to that this short sighted vision of Insurance and HC executives simply because they want the bottom line to look good today so they get their stock options VS whats better for their business and their customers in a decade
