Default Deficits ~ What would Jesus Cut ?

Bohner ~ Debt a 'moral threat' to the country

Today

John Boehner: Debt a 'moral threat' to the country - Jennifer Epstein - POLITICO.com

The national debt is a “moral threat” to the United States, House Speaker John Boehner said Sunday, an impending peril about which some people are realizing they “better start praying.”

Speaking in Nashville on Sunday night, the Ohio Republican described the country’s mounting financial obligations as “a mortal threat to our country … [and] also a moral threat,” calling it “immoral to bind our children to as leeching and destructive a force as debt” and “immoral to rob our children’s future and make them beholden to China.”

NBC/WSJ poll: Voters deficit-worried but wary of cuts.

Americans adamantly opposed to cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, K-12 education

Today

Poll: Voters deficit-worried but wary of cuts - Politics - msnbc.com

WASHINGTON — As politicians in Washington — and across the country — seek to cut spending to reduce their budget deficits, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that the American public is divided about how far they should go.

In the poll, eight in 10 respondents say they are concerned about the growing federal deficit and the national debt, but more than 60 percent — including key swing-voter groups — are concerned that major cuts from Congress could impact their lives and their families.

What’s more, while Americans find some budget cuts acceptable, they are adamantly opposed to cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and K-12 education.

And although a combined 22 percent of poll-takers name the deficit/government spending as the top issue the federal government should address, 37 percent believe job creation/economic growth is the No. 1 issue.

Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, says these results are a “cautionary sign” for a Republican Party pursuing deep budget cuts.

He points out that the Americans who are most concerned about spending cuts are core Republicans and Tea Party supporters, not independents and swing voters.

“It may be hard to understand why a person might jump off a cliff, unless you understand they’re being chased by a tiger,” he said.

“That tiger is the Tea Party.”

Copies of the U.S. Government budget for Fiscal Year 2012 are stacked up at the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington on Feb. 14. and Tea Partier Rand Paul wants to eliminate the Govt printing operation so to *POOF* ... eliminate the Debt ...

I have understood elementary economics even better than my HS and college professors, for over 1/2 a century now....

not any issue that the debt will be repudiated, just a question of WHEN, we as a society have been very lucky in avoiding that shituation for the last 50 years, but it's been one lucky break after another....

mainly from the electronics industry, TV being used as a sales tool, to further home/households into buying gadgets....then the increased use of electric, and other energy....gas, coal, etc...oil....

then came the extension of the electronics industry....computers, that have eliminated much of the needs for many/most/any offices, it's all over the net now....my daughter is a classic example, the large educational fund she works for closed their offices, she works from home now, and is busy as hell to the point of overload with MAJOR projects......

but how that much if any meaningful further advances in computer tech is going to affect future living standards and employment remains to be seen, the elimination of jobs due to computers is astounding, even programmers are being laid off en mass......

the only openings are like in Medical communications.....translating medical research literature into something searchable on the net.....publishing, if you will, no more textbooks.....not the only field that happening in either....

more jobs lost....

now we hit the problems of serviceability of modern cars.....another major issue where electronics is a blessing and is/can be extended into a curse....

One small question; did your eyebrows raise just a little when you observed the United States of America deploying Military Troupes to two (2) different regions, and wondered ... hummm this looks expensive?

With hindsight now one decade old ... is your Economic Intellect telling you something ... like Duuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

I have NEVER seen the need or understood just WHAT advantage to this country was supposed to have, for keeping our troops in all these shitwater 'countries' of the world.....from Korea to Japan, to Europe, Germany, etc....

and now Bahrain much less other M/E crapholes.....I really scared for our guys....they need be on the Messican border, with direct orders to shoot to kill, and even hot pursuit into Mexico.....

course I feel we need drop the drug laws too...let the zombies kill themselves with out medical treatment.....stop those stupid laws that hospitals MUST treat anyone walking in the ER.....

stop the welfare payments, work or die.....

we CAN win the islamic war in about 6 weeks.....

AFTER we get our guys outta there....time long since to correct the stupid mistakes of the past, bring our Army home, and use a sub or two to affect the needed changes in sandland....

You still haven't answered the question.

And what is wrong with replacing a committee member? Why is that corruption? Are you saying it's never been done by anyone else?
