Default Car question (believe it or not)

I have a lifter problem with my truck. What I can't figure out is how to tell if a lifter is collapsed or if it is stuck.

I hear it tapping very quietly, and I am getting a misfire code on that cylinder. I have swapped the plug, wire, and coil with a different cylinder and it's still a misfire. That means the AFM / DOD lifter is most likely the problem. if it is stuck, there is a lesser, but still huge pain in the ass fix. If it is collapsed, it is a royal pain in the ass fix.

What's the answer?

Three words:

Marvel Mystery Oil. Seriously. It does pretty good with stuck lifters.

Minimum pain in the ass, possible royal pain in the ass. That is the answer.

I've heard this and also Seafoam, but I'm not crazy about putting Seafoam in my oil.

Try a two barrel tuneup first. Warm it up, find a clear on ramp and floor that sucka all the way until you nearly rear end someone, or hit 90MPH first.

1) Drive truck to Sunnyside
2) Leave keys in it and quickly get out of the area and back to safety.
3) Wait 30 minutes
4) Call HPD, report truck stolen
5) Something happens
6) Call insurance company
7) Profit!

Wife did it with our old Nissan. It did quiet things down. She didn't run it long. Another possibility is a wiped lobe on the cam. I hope it's not that.

Question: What's the warranty on the drive train? isn't it 5 years, 100K miles? Is your truck still in warranty for the drive train? If so, take it to the Chevy house and let them deal with it.

I bought it used. Private party. No warranty left anyway. It's a 2015.

All I can say is, good thing it's not a Ford.
I heard a tapping noise in the 2011' Duratec V6,
took it to the Ford store, and they replaced the engine.
Scored cylinder #6 .
Was still under warranty though.
Sold that truck last year.

Good luck!
