Default torx bit size?

Can anyone tell me the size torx bit to remove the fuel pressure regulator on an 1989 coupe? I have a few assorted bits but none seem to fit.

Looking at it a little closer like with a magnifying glass It looks like there's a little nub in the middle. What the heck is that?

Do a google search on "tamper proof torx bit" I'm guessing GM doesn't want you to mess with it.

Oh, man! do you mean I'm going to have to buy a set of tamper proof torx bits for this job? Or do you think I can buy just the one size at my local NAPA?
What have you guys done?

I just bought an E4 torx socket to work on my opti. You can usually buy single bits or sockets. Look around though, I came across prices as high as $20 but bought it for $7 after shipping. Once you figure out what size you need just type it in on your search bar.

Default Thank you General Motors

It's about impossible to know what size I need if I can't even get one in there. I need to know what the size is beforehand so I can buy one at the local auto store. At least I now know it's a tamper proof bit. Thanks GM. Maybe I should just leave it alone. Changing the part will probably not make any difference in performance anyway. And by performance I mean normal running. It's embarrassing to be so slow.

Default Found the answer, sort of.

Ok, a little research on another site reveals that it is possible to knock out those "security" nubs. Or one can buy a security torx bit. The right size torx bit is t10. If anyone looks at this thread in the years to come they will have an answer.
As for me, I plan to leave it alone and look elsewhere for the answer to my problem. I'll come back to it if need be.

You can buy a regulator for a little bit more than the wrenches will cost, then you know it is right. They don't call it tamper proof for no reason.

Default old thread

Sundown, although this thread is over a year old I will respond. Even when I bought a new FPR I still needed to take off the cover with the torx screw to get the new piece installed. This I did and the car is running very smoothly. The right torx bit cost me a buck at Autozone.

Another option I've seen people do is buy a cheap junky bit and dimple or drill a small hole in the middle to go over the tamper pin.
