I love my job, except when I don’t. My current job was via by-name request. No interview, no resume. I turned down another such offer before taking this job. Last interview was probably like 1999.

A couple of months ago, I had a couple of interviews with a company, and the interviews seemed to be great. After the second interview, the interviewer suggested that they take the next step, and their recruiter will contact me.

That recruiter contacted me yesterday and asked if I was still interested in a position, and when would be a good time to give me a call. I said Friday at 3:00pm. The recruiter called me right at 3, to tell me that the position they had for me was instead given to one of their current employees.

I didn't learn to swim until I was about 11 or 12. I was deathly afraid of drowning because I almost did. I learned to love the water later.

The thing is, when he emailed me yesterday, to see if I was interested, it almost sounded as if the position was available. If the position wasn't available, why bother reaching out to me, after two months of silence after the interviews?
