Strictly from a Use Of Force matrix, there's definitely no problem for the officer if she hit the ground and died. There's no excessive force issue since he met like kind force in a like kind manner. There will be a civil suit however. Job might be lost, etc. Politically motivated decisions from above can be disproportionate based on an overblown public reaction.

My own personal stance is that if you choose to fight like a man, you've earned the right to get your ass kicked like a man.

The autopsy showed the guy was on meth and fentanyl at the time. I doubt they would have even arrested him for the counterfeit, but being high, they really couldn't let him drive home.

I was leaving a restaurant one time and saw a few squad cars, they were questioning a very normal looking family over a counterfeit bill in the parking lot. I didn't stay to see the outcome, but they didn't look like people who would be out intentionally passing out counterfeits, especially at a restaurant. I bet they were embarrassed, but otherwise just let go. They probably got it from someone else, and didn't know it. That could have been the case with Floyd, too, but being high at the time doesn't help your case.

What do those people look like?

In 50 years of driving, I'm sure I have been pulled over by the police 50 times or more. Most of it when I was very young and driving loud cars. I have never been asked to get out of the car, and I have received three moving violations, all of them minor. It was before the breathalyzer, but I was probably drunk 20 of those times I was pulled over. I credit the above statistics to the fact that I look like Opie Taylor.

I painfully watched the video more than once today to provide a lengthy response to a post on FB.

It is my sincere opinion that the death was accidental. I hate that I can even form that opinion but here is how I get there.

1. The officer is a dick. I'm making an assumption that he LIKES roughing people up. He LIKES these kinds of resisting arrest situations. He enjoys getting the upper hand and having the power and control. He's a prick cop that most likely put himself in that scene because he WANTED shit to go down. This is my own opinion, but when I see an officer with gloves on, my spidey sense go up and I immediately think they are a hard ass. Maybe they were only nitrile, maybe not. I've known a few that have leather skin tight gloves and they fit the bill. Pure speculation on my part and a bit biased too.
2. The two officers that answered the call first (Lane and Kueng) had a struggle at first, but they controlled the situation and did not NEED Chauvin to assist...but he did. (see #1 )
3. Chauvin has most likely used that knee/neck combo in the past. He kneeled and bided his time like someone waiting for the Kuerig to stop dripping. That move was done to make GFloyd pass out. I'm sure he's BTDT. Perp goes out cold and they stuff him.
4. The ambulance was not called because George died. It was called because he had already complained to the first two officers about not feeling well. I'd even go so far as to say he was still at the scene because he may have been unable, or unwilling to drive. It also could have been why it "appeared" he did not want to exit the car. Quite possibly, he wasn't able to stand on his own. There's no way they arrived that fast because he passed away.
5. I would bet a dollar to a donut Chauvin had NO IDEA George was dead when they put him on the gurney. I'll bet they thought he was just unconscious. I never saw anyone check for a pulse.
6. Chauvin is going to offer this:
Trained to use the department approved knee restraint
Expected the perp to pass out as have other Chauvin collars
Did not know he was deceased when paramedics arrived (supporting the two previous points)

Will ultimately be found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated manslaughter, or negligent homicide

He better HOPE there are multiple white perps that they can call to the stand to say that Chauvin performed that restraint on them during their arrest, and they passed out. If he can produce 6 or 8 white victims of his brutality, he stands a better shot at removing racism from the equation. That covers the technique, the racism, the cool mannered behavior, the ignoring of pleas for help, SOME of the time spent kneeling and leaves him with using poor judgement by utilizing a dangerous technique on someone complaining of a heath issue (Negligence resulting in death).

If I were his attorney, this is the path I'd follow.
