Nice guitar. That color is Pelham Blue. It’s transparent. Bahama Blue is opaque metallic. That has the correct markers with rosewood. Essentially the same guitar though without the fancy shit. Modern Epiphones are made in China. I’m not sure anyone could tell the difference in terms of sound. Although my pickups are not split. So if you switch to single coil that would sound very different. I bet it’s lighter than mine. Mine is a ****ing anchor. |

The guy that invented them is Dave Evans. Long after he was out of business I needed a wiring harness for one of my Strats (they use three pin micro connectors). I posted on a forum trying to find the connectors and he replied. He apparently got stupid rich and was spending most of his time on a yacht. He made me a harness for free and mailed it to me. I couldn’t believe it. I have two matching Strats (not real Strats. Custom made 57 copies) with identical electronics. Back in the day I ran a Mesa Boogie Mark iv with the massive Eminence JBLs. Ran it totally clean. It SPANKED. I sold it for $100 less than I paid in 1996- $1,500 and bought my 64 Deluxe. Huge change after so many years. But the sound and tone is incredible. The boogie sounded great but sterile. The LP sounded dead through it. (Unless you ran high gain channel. Then it was amazing but I don’t play that style). The deluxe has that brown sound that just can’t be replicated. Coupled with the Eliminators, it’s sweet as shit. I paid $1,600 and recently saw one going for $7950 on Reverb. Too bad I won’t sell any of this stuff. My son can reap the gain after I’m gone. |

Wow. Beautiful. I had no idea we had so many blue LPs on here!
That’s Pelham Blue. Super nice top. The epiphones look identical. The only difference I can see if the headstock. Is that a reissue Vibrolux Reverb? What year is the guitar and how much do they cost? You know, the only guitar I’ve bought was the LP 40 years ago. I only have four total. Two strat copies and a telecaster copy. Someday I’d like to get a decent acoustic. But I can’t justify the cost. Especially when I have RIDICULOUS high end guitars available to me to borrow. There is one Matt owns - correction it’s a Takemine with a ****ing tube preamp in the guitar! You have to play for a few minutes for it to warm up. Then it sounds incredible. I have a video of it. I really love this recording and song. I don’t play much on it but you can hear that guitar just sing. |

Thanks Pete, I got it for my son, he never took to it so I took it back and put the Duncans in. He also has an Epi Goth Explorer downstairs in the basement that I got him for Christmas, I had a Duncan JB put in the bridge position. The thing screams.

Nice guitars in this thread - I won't upgrade until my skills improve.....left hand is still cramped from yesterday's session where I tried to do the Carlos Santana intro to Black Magic Woman, the stretch to do the multiple "way up the neck" octave slides in the beginning - was my downfall. There are "workarounds" to that part and I may have to look into them.
The man switched modes and scales like nobody's business. |

One can still get it if one has the right sources. The stuff in this photo is all 8/4 (2" thick) and black all the way through. A lot like Hillary's heart in that regard. |

I'd have to check on date of the guitar, not sure. Think I paid 4-500 for it.
Vibrolux was a 1999 reissue, it was great. I swapped the stock speakers with some Rajin Cajuns, had some sweet tone. Sold it a few years ago, way more amp than I needed. I play through a small Bugera V5, surprising little amp. Quote:

My friend jumped the gun a while ago and posted pictures all over the internet of the guitar. It drew some notes Hamer collectors, who quickly went away when he couldn't answer questions on a player/ collector level. Probably killed a chance at an easy sale. Totally killed anything I was working on to market the guitar. Owner doesn't need money so he's sitting on it until things die down. I suspect the instrument will end up in Europe, like a number of it's former band mates instruments have. |

This is my Hamer XT made in Indonesia. Got it in 2013, of course I swapped the pups to 2 Duncan Distortions, I wanted it to be more of an aggressive player.

Having done a deep dive into Hamer history, and speaking to some of the principles that started the company, I found the early generation to be amazing guitars. When I played the collector guitar I was shocked at how sweet it played, even after decades in a closet. If I had the money I would have bought it myself, just because of how great it played. Notes just roll out of it in a Way I can't explain. Gave me a great deal of insite into the original owners playing. An early Hamer will be my next holy Grail to chase if I don't head off deeper into bass guitar.
