When post counts counted.

Even DAB made an appearance in this thread over there.

Pictures in the link are kind of bad, but that was the photo****et days.

Thumbs up

I am enjoying stuffing myself silly today on cookies/pie/treats and will do so tomorrow with roast, etc.

I have the space because yesterday morning I hit the 40lbs lost mark since last summer.

36" pants are falling off me and I need to drill a second additional hole in my belt. Not buying 34"s, waiting for 32"s.

Cool

I call it lucky but you'll can call it bragging if you want.

I volunteer at Rough and Tumble Historical Association www.roughandtumble.org

It's a working museum of old tractors, steam tractors, steam engines, old engines and various old farming machines.

They have an Otto Langen Atmospheric engine that was built in 1868 that we run regularly. It's the 3rd oldest running atmospheric engine in the world and the oldest in all the Americas.

A couple years ago, we disassembled it to make sure everything was still in good shape and return it to the original color. When we were taking apart the fuel system ( it originally ran on "city gas" which is what is captured when heating coal), I discovered a crack in the brass tube.

I said I would make another exactly as the original. I told a solid piece of brass, machined it to the same diameter, drilled the correct size hole thru it and tapped the one end just like the original.

The brass tube can be seen at the :37 mark, the threaded end has a hydrogen flame which is literally cut off and transferred to the combustion chamber.

Yes, the engine is quite primitive and only makes about 1/3 of a horsepower but it what got things going for combustion engines.

The engines we use now are based on the Otto cycle.

As stated in the beginning, you may call this a brag but I feel extremely lucky and fortunate to to have worked on such a rare engine.

Jeff

Dental problems/nerve damage.

Lost about 15 lbs. because of it initially. Figured what the hell, I've got a nice head start, stop eating so much and lose more weight.

I just eat less and only drink water all day after my morning coffee. Also I don't eat in between meals because I'm obsessive about keeping my teeth clean and always brush/floss/mouthwash immediately after eating anything.

Hey Will, why don't you put that law degree to use and sue Internet Brands for intentionally flooding our little Group W bench of the internet with refugees? Seems like a slam dunk case. Also, what happened to your boasts to rejuvenate our PR&C area? We gave you god like mod powers, which you promptly abused and ruled over your subjects with an iron fist, but never made PR&C great again. When's that gonna happen?
