Well politics really get in the way of getting things done Gof forbid you offend any of the stupid masses... you might lose votes.
Don't get me started on the welfare state... there is a whole culture that thrives on getting and staying on welfare to live off of our tax dollars. IMO.... **** 'em..... seriously. Mandatory drug testing for welfare would be my frist step and then time limits you can stay on welfare.

my parents & grandparents worked the fields,as I'm sure some of ya'll's did. picking/hoeing cotton, bailing hay etc. I did some of that too & I made up my mind that I was going to get the hell off the farm as soon as I could. thing is, that work was hard, but it didn't kill us.a lot of it is automated now, but some stuff never will be due to the nature of the work especially on truck farms. it will never pay a decent wage, either. the people on welfare should be treated similar to prisoners. they should be rehabilitated & trained in skills that will keep them employed. if they don't want to work, cut 'em off.let 'em sponge off of relatives.

During my military service of 22 years 14 were in foregin lands far from America. No problems with this where I served, and I was in rich and poor countries. I am married to a Mexican, oh she came on a workers visa and went through the process to become a permanent resident. Yes she has a SSAN and pays taxes, something most of the illegals do not. So both the employer and worker are cheating the system and we end of paying for this.
Current example of a family member: He is a Latino not from Mexico here oh no illegal and married to an American citizen and has a new born. He works laying cement foundations for $10 an hour under the table. He is not the violent one, though if caught, being sent home is fair. First we must secure the borders, then we can send them home, he was deported once and is back. Yes I live in the Mexico North, that is the San Antonio area where I am the miniority. What AZ goes through is probably 5 to 10 times fold in Texas. AZ is just trying to enforce the federal law that has been ignored for decades and America is at a breaking point. Oh my wifey and I disagree on this, why I would not turn in a family member who does not speak English. I expect nothing but race issues on this until we first secure the borders. |

what Arizona is doing is a slippery slope IMHO. who knows what citizens could be targeted for next. even John McCain doubts the legality of the law they signed.

Hold up.... the law doesn't target any citizens. The law simply allows them to verify citizenship when you've been stopped/questioned for probable cause. It's targeting no group in particular and an individual cannot be stopped for "suspicion of illegal status" as the primary reason for the stop.

Ah yes.........Enforce the existing laws...........what a novel idea on the local, state & fed level.
I have also lived/worked all over the world and..........am always glad to show my passport to get back in the US of A As I tell the boys here in the boat factory, ya can't make up for 20+years of neglect in 1 year for a few reasons.........$$$ and politics come to mind. Of course unfunded mandates are great to work with There is work to be done to keep the USA the USA I knew 30 years ago.......ALL my elected officials know my last name and face |

I agree completely. but, to stop people because of the way they look is going over the top. we have enough "profiling" of people going on now without adding to the quagmire. Nazi Germany, anyone??

I've never believed in the concept of borders. I don't think any human being has the right to tell any other human being where they can live or work.
As long as they follow the laws of the land in which they live, (aside from immigration laws) and pay taxes, I don't care where they are from or what language they speak. The vast overwhelming majority of illegals here work their asses off and obey the laws. And lets not forget, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California were all part of Mexico until 1848. (I know you Texans will dispute the date but Mexico never recognized your independence). The Mexican American war was morally questionable on our behalf, it was supported by southern democrats in an effort to increase territory where slavery would be acceptable. To me kicking Mexicans out of Arizona is the same thing as putting Indians on reservations. They were here first... |
