Default Broke my tailbone...anyone else.

When will this end? My ass is killing me. 2 weeks ago I fell backwards over a dog bed and sat down hard onto a wood floor. The end result is a bruised and fractured coccyx (tailbone).

I have to sit on a stupid cushion with a notch cut out for my tailbone when I drive. I use it at my office but not in "public," like in court or meetings. It is not so bad once I am sitting or standing, walking, but the process of standing up is painful. Getting out of the Vette makes my eyes water when I have to roll across my tailbone. It is maybe 25% better than when this happened 2 weeks ago.

Anyone else been through this? Everyone else that I have spoken to tells me stories of 3 months of intermittent discomfort.

No kidding. This has aged me 15 years. I am 37 but feel completely broken. I cannot wait until this heals. That said, I am thankful that it is only my tailbone and not further up L4-5 or L5-S1 where it causes neurological problems.

My Mom fell off a horse years ago, and broke hers too....landed right on her butt. She said it took a few months before she was back to normal, but had back problems all her life from it...... and she never rode a horse again.

A horse is a lot higher up though, you should be good with a few Percocets a day.

Funny you should ask...I had the red inflatable donut until I found the cushion with a notch cut out for my tailbone. The donut is really better suited for hemorrhoids.

Damnit man, seriously.....at age ~36 I landed off the deck of my sailboat onto the tarmac parking lot, flat on my back/ass from about 5' high, and my friends thought I was dead....not moved for what they described as a couple of minits.....I remember the landing, but nothing after, except looking over the shoulders of Larry and Julie on the way back to my house, the EX was preggers with first miss carriage.....and so 6 months later I got really sore i the asshole region, and the butt doc said surgery.....

I know the tail bone was hurting like mad, for a LONG time, and really over the decades, I can say my skeleton is a POS right from the factory, shit, the '72 vette bird cage and chassis is in much better shape than I am....

All I remember is I was MUCH more comfortable with a normal mattress than any round butt sling tube rig......

I broke my tailbone when I was in high school. I got thrown off a bull and landed directly on my ass. I had to spiderwalk out of the arena to keep the bull from coming back and killing me.

The worst part was that it happened on a Friday night an hour away from home and we were in my truck, so I had to drive an hour home then take 3 or four friend home (in my lifted, stiff suspension 4x4 truck) before I could go home. To top it off my parents had were out of town for the weekend, so I had to wait until Sunday evening before I could go to the doctor.
I recall that I didn't take a dump for several days because I was afraid of how much it would hurt. I also recall that my fear was not unfounded when I finally did.

I slipped and slid down a flight of stairs. Broke my tail bone when I was younger.

In '99, I was hurt in a fast roping accident. The result was herniated disk at L4, L5, S1. In Feb of this year, my disks finally exploded while I was in the shower, and had to have surgery.

I know exactly how you feel. When you roll over the tail bone or when you take the pressur off of it (standing up), it feels like a giant is shoving a telephone pole up you ass.

It sucks. I have been dealing with the tail bone pain and leg, foot pain constantly since Feb.

It is absolutely feking miserable.

I have S1 nerve root dammage and I am looking at at least another year of recovery before I can go back to a somewhat normal life.

I was pushed off a jungle gym in Kindergarten, about 8 feet off the top, fell flat on my back. I got up, took about 5 steps and collapsed, legs were dead. moved some, got up..legs worked again.

I got to the nurse, they called 911 and my dad...turned out I had a fractured Vertabrae, it was en "L" something, and the Dr said my spinal cord was being pinched and a simple wrong move would leave me paralyzed from the waist down.

They put me in a pressure abdomen cast, and 3 weeks later i was good as new.

21 years later, I feel that fracture every day of my life....Scoliosis also adds to it.

Back injuries always blow dicks...

Lots of times when I was younger because of ice skating and skateboarding.

Everything takes longer to heal when you get old. Some things don't heal, you may experience problems from that injury the rest of your life. Or it may get better only to come back and haunt you at a later date.

That's how I hurt mine. 12+ hours of figure skating a week. It was bound to happen! Didn't hurt unless I had to sit down, took a couple months, but it finally healed.

Pain is good. It teaches you not to do that again.

Get well soon and learn how to fall.
