Not sure why but this thought popped into my head while iHeart was plugging a podcast about a serial killer.

If a mentally ill person commits murder, do they go to Heaven?

Sure, they have free will but their mind doesn't work correctly and can't tell the difference between right and wrong, right?

I don't think that he would.

The way I see it, God grants a piece of himself to those that He created: the soul. If we live to please Him, then our soul gets to return. If not, it spends eternity wandering around, alone.

Secondly, there is redemption for our sins through faith in Christ.

According to Southern Baptist churches I’ve been to, you can literally violate all 10 commandments intentionally and you’re still guaranteed entry to heaven. Maybe that’s why they have so many shitty members. Worst case you just donate a little more money to the church so God knows to let you in.

What it does say is that when a man takes a life, not in war or self defense, that man’s life is forfeit and he is to die…no mention of mental illness as an excuse

Sadly, I agree. I wish there were something noteworthy that happens after you die, but there just isn't. I think that religion is just that last relic of the ancient times that attempts to keep people civil (guiding principles) and reduce chaos. Unfortunately, I think it has the opposite affect. Religion is extremely divisive and has caused more death throughout humanity than every war we've ever had as a species. Sad that human kind won't let it go. I suppose they don't because the thought of spending eternity with their deity makes death suck less.

Having said that, I disagree with Ronin. The societal influence of Christianity on western civilizations has produced the most prosperous, peaceful, happiest, stable, wealthiest societies ever. This is all voluntary.

But that is all being stripped away to be replaced by the religion of Marxism, which is pure evil. We have 100 years of world history showing that.

Marxism is NOT voluntary, quite the opposite.

There will always be some governing authority: We can govern ourselves via inner morality or be governed by external authorities with jackboots and clubs.

I am not big on grace and mercy, as I feel your actions are you character, it is who you are, change how you behave and there is no need for much forgiveness.

But, according to the life and actions and teachings of JESUS CHRIST, all can be fogiven upon request, regardless of what you or I think,,, and I think not.

I'm a "big picture" guy and view western civilization mostly from the founding of this country up until Marxism got a foothold in our culture 50 or so years ago, and unleashed the evil we are living with now.

When discussing "Marxism" in regards to a religious based chat, I will agree that it brings in the "cult" vibe. Cults typically are religion (or "spiritually") based, and it just so happens that typical democrats/marxists live as a part of that group think mentality. That makes them dangerous people.

But I still blame religion as the root cause for millennias of human death.
