Default When does a man become "Sr."?

Not like when does he become a senior citizen, but like when he has a son that he names after himself and son becomes "Richard M. Head, Jr." It's illogical that Daddy was named "Richard M. Head, Sr." at birth because no one knew if he'd have a son or even want children.

If he becomes "Sr." after "Jr." is born, shouldn't he have to legally change his name? What about his birth certificate, driver's license, insurance documents, taxpayer info, etc.?

Also, could Richard have a son who is a Jr. and then have another son who he names the III? Isn't the III customarily Jr's son?

Gin does this to me....

George Foreman has five sons and they are all named George. Swirl that one around in your gin.

George Foreman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In my book, George can do anything he wants and it would be fine with me. 3-Time World Heavyweight Champion, knocked out men half his age, often begged the ref to stop the fight so that his opponent wouldn't suffer any more punishment. I remember that his left jab was once described as, "walking past a window and having a light pole come through the window and hitting you". His calves were bigger than most mens' thighs. He trained by using a body harness to pull Jeeps up hills.

Ali is arguably the best boxer ever, but Foreman, at least in his 2nd and 3rd reincarnations, was the consumate boxer. Relaxed, always remembering to breathe, compassionate. Some people feel that he was slow and lumbering. That's just because of his huge size. When those supposedly slow jabs came out of nowhere (and therefore not "slow"), his opponent just paused, his knees crumpled, and he went to the floor.

No, you remain Junior. I am working with a client right now who didn't tell me he was a junior and I had to redo the whole loan file when QC flagged it. He thought once his Dad passed, he was no longer a junior.

Me and my dad have the same name. He was Sr. and I was Jr. He died in 2007 and I still have Jr. as part of my name. It's on my drivers license, credit cards, passport and banking info.

Funny you should pick that name. Years ago my brother and I were riding around and saw that name (Richard Head) on a mailbox. Turns out the man's wife was a friend of my mom's. His parents sure had a mean sense of humor.

I am a II. I was named after my grandfather on my Dad's side. It is listed on my drivers licence. You would be suprised at the number of people who would get II confused with Jr. I got tired of trying to explain it to them.

I'm a Jr. and my oldest son is a III. My parents tried to name me a II but the hospital wouldn't let them.
