Of course. KR knew there WOULD be folks there not just looking for trouble, but purposefully causing it. Even at just 17 years old, he was brave enough to be there on-site to help clean up the shit the trouble-makers were creating, helping those injured by the trouble-makers, and yes, he brought along a rifle for self defense because he was not legally allowed to carry a concealed handgun. When the trouble-makers came for him trying to kill him, he also had the bravery and presence of mind to defend himself. Anyone who values an orderly society should view him as a hero.

FWIW: I never saw ANY convincing evidence that it was KR who shot the short, bald, child molester in the head. It was a chaotic place, and KR was unquestionably in the area, but multiple people were discharging firearms at that time in that place. IIRC, the prosecution did not focus on that part of the incident, and instead tried to hang him on the death of skateboard dude and loss of bicep muscle of illegally-possessed pistol dude.
