Default They annoyed me.

Back in 2008 or 09 I don't even remember, I felt my money manager was being shady so I called him out on it. He had a lot of bullshit excuses but no real answers so I dumped him. I pulled everything but like 20 bucks. They have been managing that 20 bucks all these years and mailing me quarterly statements. . They ask to go paperless and I decline. Look at this dividend I get when I receive my eight page quarterly statement. wonder what it cost them to print,fold and mail it??

I am re-listing one of my investment properties for sale, and the agent asked me to update the latest balances in the security accounts. Chase has been very aggressive with making me go paperless on these accounts, since they don't make shit off of them, and I have obliged, so they are all paperless. I go to get the 3 balances, and one of the accounts is missing from the list on my online summary. So I call Chase customer service last night:

Me: One of my tenant security accounts is not showing up on my account list online.

Chase: What is the account number that is missing?

Me. I don't know, I can't see the account, so I don't know the account number.

Chase: Look at your latest statement, and give me the account number from that.

Me. I don't have a paper statement since you guys have more or less forced me to go paperless.

Chase: Click on the account, then click on "statements and documents". From there, you can print a statement, and give me the account number.

Me:

You can't make this shit up people.

The funny part is remember how you folks thought I was full of shit with the "browser issue"? Well my wife works for Bank of America, and when I told her that I had been struggling with this for a day and a half, trying to get our branch to straighten it out with no luck, she thought I was equally full of shit.

Yesterday, she demanded that I stop talking to the branch, and wait for her to get home, when she would look at what was online, and determine if there was actually a problem, or I was full of shit (she was adamant that I was definitely full of shit), and if there was a problem, we would deal with Chase customer service via telephone. She got home, and agreed that there was a problem. She then stood behind me looking at my screen, with customer service on speaker so she could hear everything both sides said, when the above interaction occurred.

I still haven't gotten my apology for either incident BTW.

FWIW: Chase today has acknowledged that I do, in fact, have another tenant security account that is not showing up on my online banking.

it may not be exactly that much as I don't recall the exact amount, but yes.

I have zero doubt that Chase has a ****ed-up system.

But that in no way absolves you of that earlier issue with your browser.

Wells Fargo took over the bank my Mom was with. They made changes that Mom disliked (she didn't do well with changes) and she always said "I hate that Wells Fargo". Suggestions of changing banks was not acceptable. So after she passed, I kept her account and thought it would be a great place to stash car parts money until they wanted to charge me a $30 monthly fee since it dropped under $1000 after a few purchases. It was not worth the fee to keep the account so I closed it. Following month I get a statement showing $0.01. Interest before I closed it. I called them after a received 3 statements (no fee mind you, just 1 penny in the account). They claimed that I needed to bring in a death certificate for Mom to close the account. I did that when we settled the estate, they must of messed it up somewhere, Mom's name is not visible anywhere in the account, I guess someone didn't check the right box. So here we 5 years later, I still receive a 7 page statement for .01. Still no fees. I just smile every month when it arrives in the mailbox.

A neighbor was over to watch football when that whole thing was happening. He does a lot of his business online, and manages his own website, so he is one of the most knowledgeable people on the topic I know in real life. I started to explain the issue to him, and I didn't even finish before he said "browser issue, do you have any other browsers installed on your machine?"

It's pretty obvious to me who the folks were who didn't know what the **** they were talking about. The funniest part of the whole interaction was when one poster said "somebody suggested loading a new browser, did you even try that?", when the person suggesting that was me.
