Basically it's firm Jello that can be eaten by hand. Kind of like a ju ju bee candy only softer.

How many do you need for the average bed size? Are they comfortable to sleep on?

I've been trying to come up with a more accurate description of how this mattress feels when you lay on it. It's really hard to describe it though... I guess it feels like someone put a thick layer of firm jello on top of a firm coil spring mattress. Although this is the model 4 with 4-inches of their polymer you don't sink that deep into it. This probably won't make sense to some of you, but it reminds me of Jello with an extra package or two of Knox gelatin mixed in. It is really very comfortable and much cooler than a standard mattress.

P.S. Their bamboo sheets rock too!
Nice to hear. Wife and I have the Serta iComfort (gel infused memory foam) and they are great except they still sleep a bit hotter than our old coil spring.
Comfort level is incredibly good though.
