I don't follow his antics, nor those of any other spammers.

I haven't been to the CF since I got spanked in December 2022. The last time I've seen Doug online was when he was here some months ago.

I do not miss him or people like him -- I hope he never comes back.

Scrapple is the trimmings and offal

Spam is shoulder and ham
(The primary ingredient in Spam is chopped pork shoulder meat mixed with ham. About 90% of Spam is pork from a pig's shoulders. The remaining 10% (or so) comes from the pig's buttock and thigh, better known as ham)

I buy ham hock terrine which is basically head cheese loaf except made from hocks, use it for making vietnamese sandwiches

I make Spam fried rice. The less sodium version, I usually smoke it first.

"Scrapple" is a sausage-like combination of pork with seasonings. I made some from my hogs back in the '70s but didn't care for it that much. Bought some at the store some years ago, didn't care for that either.

The word "ham" is a bit fuzzy. It normally means the hind quarter of a hog, but it can be "fresh" or cured/smoked.

A picnic ham is the cured/smoked shoulder -- which is a cheaper cut than a rear ham.

Per some goading from some PA based types I bought a lunchtime plate of scrapple at Roman Village in SW Detroit. It was awful.

Other way around. Hot dogs are made of emulsified trimmings.
Spam is recognizable as meat.

Spam is best sliced long-wise into 10-12 slices per can. Bake or grill meat, browning well and serve on a buttered toast sammy.

It is a regional delicacy... don't write it off until you have tried it in its native area... preferably at an Amish (horse and carriage type) eatery. Detriot has wonderful Amish fare, but its roots are in a different place.

It’s spring. So to eat in Amish country means smelling horse/cow shit for the next 3 months.

I have a bunch in my prepper stash. Had to throw away the low sodium stuff because the cans bulged and might have been compromised.

FTR, I lived in Hawaii for several years and would only eat that crap in an emergency. Same with Poi. Friggin nasty.
