Default I'm going on tour!

But you all will be happy to know I will not be doing any singing, and I'll be leaving my guitars at home!

Daughter is moving from Turlock CA to Boston MA, and was planning on driving her car "Rogue One" by herself across the country. The women folks in the neighborhood didn't want that to happen, so they have arranged for care for my pooch for a week, while I go and do a lot of the trip with her. I'll be leaving on Sunday the 23rd, and meeting up with her in Salt Lake City UT, and winding our way across country where I will fly home from Cleveland OH on the 30th.

Current itinerary has us staying overnight in or near Iowa. We do not have an activity planned, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. Also, we will be passing through the Indianapolis area, I have suggested the museum at the speedway, mostly because I have been to Indy for business many times, but know of no other interesting stuff around there, so again, suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

A great bonding experience, something about riding in an old car and sharing experiences from your past with your progeny in that particular setting is truly magical....

If i knew where some half sisters lived in Iowa I'd pay you to swing by and slap the stupid out of them but you'd probably need shoulder surgery afterwards as to get the stupid out would take a long time.
Been through Iowa... Wasn't impressed.

Road tripping across the country with the kids is always a fun time.

Maybe @Entropy can help you out with Iowa.

Boston? Better just sell the car and use the T.

Unfortunately, it won't be in my 'vette, but in her 2016 Nissan Rogue, hence the "Rogue One" comment. Should be fun anyway. The furthest I have driven is here to FLA, usually 1200 miles or thereabouts, and no sightseeing on the way. This one will be 2100 miles, with some kind of "activity" every day.

No interest in slapping the stupid off of other people's family members, because if I was interested in that, my own family would keep me mighty busy. My former company had a distribution center in Dubuque IA. I was there a few times. Let's just say that downtown Dubuque is not exactly a roaring metropolis and leave it at that.

2100 miles with only one overnight stop? Are you sure you can stay awake that long old man?

The Des Moines area is pretty neat, and there are plenty of parks and such that are open. The Pappajohn Sculpture Park and the Botanical Garden are neat. The Hessen Haus is one of my favorite restaurants in that area.

If you're willing to travel off of Highway 80, you can check out the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad.

It's a pretty neat ride, but can be chilly depending on the weather. Great views of the river.

WTF? What part of flying out in 10/23, and flying back on 10/30 is it that is confusing you?

Awesome, thanks! I will pass this on to my daughter, she is the cruise director here.

BTW: A guy yanking his crank while staring at another man's dick is really gay. I just thought you ought to know that.

Owning a car in Boston is a nightmare. Back in the day my boss paid $60k for a an indoor parking spot. It's probably worth ten times that now.

Comprehensive insurance? Fuggetaboutit.

I think her new apartment is in East Boston, but I haven't been there yet, since she has not taken possession, so I'm not sure.

The only thing east of Boston is the Atlantic Ocean.
