One of the most interesting part of travelling through Scotland is touring the distilleries of the Spey River. Most of them are very old, like 600 years old! Here's where the Balvenie scotch comes to life.......

Actually, my wife and I are seriously thinking of doing a trip to Scotland to play golf and visit some of the distilleries. From some of our initial research it looks like the Balvenie distillery is one of the very best to visit. After all I have been promising my liver for years that I would take it to Scotland

Anyone here ever done a golf/whiskey trip to Scotland that they can share info on?

I absolutely Love the Balvenie line! Have 2 bottles of the Doublewood on hand at all times! And although I've tasted a dram of the Portwood (21yr), I've never bought one. Much as I'd love to though, that's the best stuff I've ever put in my mouth!

Total Oralgasm!!

Paul, I too would like to take a tasting tour across Scotland. Maybe we could plan a joint trip?
I'm not a golfer, but don't mind watching, or doing something different.

I had originally thought to do the tasting tour and combine with a biking tour from distillery to distillery! Biking through the highlands promises to be a treat as well.
In addition, seeing some of the old castles in the area (some have been converted to uber-B&B's!) would be awesome!

or more appropriately:

Cutty / Water. My second favorite, behind Tanqueray / Tonic.

Why not? A shot is only $3,400.

I'd try it. It would be an utter waste on my unrefined scotch palate but I'd certainly give it a go. Anybody want to go in on a case?

Never played a round, but toured Old St. Andrews in around 1990, and well as the "whuskey trrrrrail" distillery tours on the Spey. Great trip, friendly people, to Canadians anyway. Do it again someday. For an ancient civilized country, it's very clean, with hardly any crime to worry about as well.
