Before the boating accident I may or may not have put 10's of thousands of rounds down range out of a para ordnance ssp 2.
Black w/chome controls not expensive, polished feed ramp, we held our own in run & gun comp

It goes without being said that when I'm talking about firearms I'm talking about pre boating accident firearms.

Ruger SR1911 9mm Target, Ruger SR1911CMD in .45, Ruger SR1911CMD in 9mm. The 9mm Commander is my EDC.

I have owned several Kimber, a couple of Springfields, a few Rock Island, a couple of Colts, and even a High Standard.
That being said I still have the Rugers. The biggest disappointment were the Kimbers. I had four, and every one had occasion failures to feed regardless of what mag or ammo was being used. Gunsmith said it was usually corrected with a little ramp or mag work. For $1500 a pop I shouldn't have to have machine work done.
The Rugers were half that price, just as accurate, and have never given me an issue.

Just about an hour ago, my boss gifted me with a new Kimber Micro 9mm. (I love my job)

Reading here has me a little concerned about quality. Anything I can do to reduce my odds of issues?

200 round break in with ball ammo. During break in notice if one mag gives trouble more than the other, cull and replace as needed. If no issues pick a defensive round and try brands until you find one which will go 100 rounds with zero stoppages: then run only that for carry.
I used to not trust a carry gun until it had run perfectly for 500 rounds with mixed ammo, but it's hard to shoot that much currently unless you spend megabux or have 10000 rounds put up already.

Never understood the allure of 1911's. I'd like to have one but my other "tools" fit the bill just fine and super reliable

1911’s suck ass. I’d get a 1912 if it were me. Besides. Why do you need a gun to begin with? Guns violence is at epidemic proportions here in the United States.

Just walk away if you feel threatened.

Fags.

I think 1911’s are nice to look at and to show friends, but I haven’t carried a 1911 regularly in a couple of decades. There are so many better options available today that are more reliable, and have better capacity.
