Just specifically WHAT is SO different NOW from say ~20 years ago with water management?? the weather/climate changed THAT much??

I doubt it......I read stories about some river near SF that they are pissing the water flow into the ocean to save a snail darter fish/minnow?? they STILL doing that crap?? and how many other places are the commies doing the same thing out there?? abandoned common cents......

Yeh, the land is more vertical than horizontal out there, but still, why the dryness and fire hazard increases???

We moved and the next day it started. I was, you have got to be f'ing kidding me! We didn't unpack our stuff for several days. It's a monster fire now but fortunately it's spreading away from us. Hell, it grew 14,000 acres overnight one day.

California has towns in the middle of national forests all over the place. Especially in mountain areas. And even more towns on the edge of national forests.

A fire that starts on (mismanaged) federal land doesn’t stop burning at federal land.

Same in UT, CO, MT and other western states, where the feds have mismanaged the forests just as badly. I don't completely blame the feds though as environmental groups have sued repeatedly to stop logging and other activities that would have mitigated fire damage and spread.

Let's not forget the lawsuits to protect the spotted owl and the actions against logging companies.

The handling of the federal forests have been held hostage by the green weenies of CA and the rest of the country.

there we go. That's what I was getting at and poorly articulated it if at all. Granted, the liberal states in that area are mismanaging their land, too, but the eco terrorists are forcing the government to their will lest the government deals with bad optics and some asshole politician doesn't get re-election.

Air quality here in CO is also sucking from the fires on the west coast. Jet stream is just pumping that stuff in.

Another thing Trump was right about. Yes, you've got to 'rake the forest.' Texas also has known severe drought, and yes, we have a wildfire now and again, but NOTHING like what we see EVERY year in California.
