I agree. Xiden has been in office for less than a week, and already he is working hard at ****ing up this great country. Trump worked his ass off for the American people and now they (the democraps) are thumbing their noses in his face. Sickitating and disgusting. I know my view will not be popular among some posters here, but here goes: The problem isn't a lack of "unity", it is that for the most part, conservatives want to be left alone to live their lives, and liberals want to throw the problems of other individuals in the faces of everyone else all the time. A few of the neighborhood liberals have told me this directly, and expressed that I am an asshole because I don't care that some person in another state is having trouble with their sexual identity; that it is a major "social issue", and it is incumbent on me to stand up for people like that. I just don't see it that way.

I really don't care that they feel that way about me, they are in their 20s, don't have degrees or full-time jobs, and still live with Mommy and Daddy (sure is easy to have time to get all wound up about social issues when you don't have to support yourself, or others), but when Liberals talk about "unity", what they really mean is they want to "reprogram" folks like me to think like these folks who consider me an asshole. That's just not going to work.

You may be an asshole, but I agree with your statements. I've always been rather conservative, and I just want to be left alone. As far as the people with social problems, I don't want to know about their problems, I don't care about their problems, just leave me the **** alone.

I don't agree with that. I like to be respectful and cordial to everyone I encounter in real life. But when folks get in my face, and call me names and such, I really don't feel there is any "requirement" on my part to be civil to these folks for the sake of "unity". So far, I have kept my composure, because I view these folks as confused children who do not understand that they are behaving in a very uncivilized manner, so I see no reason to escalate the interaction. I'm sure if they read this, they would be filled with more hate, and paste more labels on me like "arrogant", or more likely "Nazi".

If I feel physically threatened, well, the rules change instantly.

I'm one person. My actions, thoughts, opinions on unity are inconsequential and are strictly my own. If I'm the Lone Ranger, then we'll be fine. If the Dems want unity, their actions, not their words, will bring it. Their version of unity is destruction and removal of anyone that disagrees. That's North Korean unity. We'll all be expected to cry or laugh on cue and when told to.

The last time I was accosted by one of "them" was when I was having a private conversation with a person in the neighborhood, and repeated to him something I read in one of the memes on one of the forums. It went roughly like this:

"90% of my political position can be summed up with the following three statements:

1. Leave me alone.
2. Don't hit other people.
3. Don't take things that aren't yours.

And somehow, in this day and age, I am now considered "far right"."

A guy who "overheard" the comment (nothing like minding one's own business is there now?) more or less flipped out on me, telling me how "stupid" I was, and that I was "making a mockery of important social issues".

Unity is really the wrong term to be throwing around. What is needed is compromise. No one gets everything they want, but everyone gets something. That’s where we need to get back to.
