Default Dog troubles

A while back my smaller dog had some serious problems and I thought she would need to be put down. I am so glad I waited. She has made a nearly full recovery.

But now my big guy, Cabo, is having problems. This morning he mis-stepped coming upstairs and his back legs came out from under him. He has weak hips and I have dreaded the day he would start having significant issues. Today that day came. He is unable to get up from a laying position. I have to get a towel under him and lift him and get him steady on his feet and walk him slowly to go outside. I knew this was coming, but it still doesn't make me ready for it. I am going to load him up with canine arthritis meds and some homeopathic stuff and hope he improves.

Poor guy.

You may have to resort to technology in the future so he has some mobility.....

Our pets are getting on in years too, Wife's Chiwawa that she brought with her lived about 4 years or so here, and one day ran outside after not feeling well for a few daze, and went into the neighbor's yard to die.....

found her all messed up and to the vet to be put down.....had a cat with that Chinese cat food poison crap years ago, same thing cat was only 3 y/o......

BUT, you know our second Chiwawa here got something rong with her left hind leg and still managed to get around, and so today is fully recovered....

So maybe the same for your fuzzball too.....best of luck man.....

Our labs are 11 and 9. The 9 YO has arthritis and some knee issues now. I feel for you.

Here's hoping Cabo's misstep was an isolated incident and he'll heal up quickly

I saw him get up to get a drink twice during the night. It was very difficult for him, but he did do it under his own power. He went out to go to the bathroom and afterward he laid down on the back patio. He got up slowly when I opened the door, but he seemed to not have the limp he had earlier. He got an anti-inflammatory this morning and I'll keep giving them to him and monitor. I think he just needs to lay around and do nothing for a while.

the only problem with dogs/cats/pets
is their lives are never long enough......
with the exception of your mother and if youre lucky
maybe your wife and kids, no one else will ever love
you that unconditionally.

hope the doggy feels better, all you can do is
make him comfortable and hope/pray for the best.

Take him to the vet they may put him on rimadyl or prednisone to help him out.

I'm giving him Rimadyl but he's only had two doses. Id like to avoid the Prednisone. It causes other issues.
