Have a simple brake question
Drivers side front brake leaves tons of dust residue while passenger side has very little. Brakes seem to function great without pulling. These are new NAPA ferro-metallic with Dot 4 flush/fill on "01 Z. Installed just before HPDE labor Day...overheated a caliper a bit ? Rotors look ok...any thoughts or need I worry.

Go for a spin at about 35 to 45 MPH on a straight road and let go of the steering wheel without touching the brakes. If it pulls to the left at all I would suspect that the caliper o-rings have swollen and are not allowing the caliper pistons to retract completely. This would cause some drag on the pads and could be creating the excessive dust. Just a thought, I've seen it before.

^^^^^ I agree completely. Had a caliper do just that same thing on my second fiero. Dusted the front drivers wheel like crazy, but didn't create enough drag to overheat the rotor. Replaced the caliper, and all was well.

I have to back-up Gary and Sneaks on this... sounds like the pad is dragging. However, in 7 years of HPDEing C5s I've never ever had that happen... the dust boots will slowly melt over time and once they get nasty I rebuild the caliper; only had to do it once.
FYI PFYC.com sells titanium-mica heat shims for the oem calipers. Just run the inboard ones and they'll keep the dust boots looking new for a long long long time... great addition if you're running trackdays on OEM calipers. Oh and if you haven't allready get some DRM ducts ASAP.
