I have a gas water heater....which makes zero difference when there's no water to heat.

My break made its presence known before the thaw. Two neighbors had their water start flowing and mine didn't so I went to investigate.

A shattered elbow and Ice Ice Baby playing in my head.

You could have hooked up a garden hose to the drain tap at the bottom of your water heater, opened it, then gravity fed the hot water in the tank to your shower.

Waaaaay back when we had a 30 below cold snap. Laying in bed with 6 blankets and a dog and heard the pipes breaking one night. Always fun. There was an access panel in bedroom closet and that's where they were blowing out. Water froze almost immediately so wasn't bad to clean up. Luckily I had replaced almost all the piping couple years before or it would have been a nightmare to fix. They had been on outside walls, i moved everything out of outside walls, these were in an interior wall just an unheated closet unfortunately.
I moved the pipes into the closet and ran heat tape the next couple of days. Then I ****ing moved South.

It doesn't seem reasonable that the pool could crack, but homeowners policies here don't usually cover pool damage. Did this three consecutive days.

Our power was never off long enough for the equipment to freeze except I forgot that my pool sweep runs off a separate pump and is set to only run for a couple hours a day. When I set the pool to run continuously I didn't think about the sweep. I think I would have been fine had I thought to take 10 seconds to set that pump on continuous. When I discovered the burst PVC, I shut the pool down and drained the filter and pumps. The pool froze quickly after that. If the pump isn't busted, it should be an easy fix.

If your pool is shaped correctly, it should be very difficult for the ice to crack the pool. That said, what you did was a good idea.

Near 70 degrees yesterday and most of the ice is now gone. I can't see any visible cracks and the water level hasn't dropped so I don't think there was any major damage. It does look like some of the grout between the plaster and the tile has flaked off. I can probably repair that myself if required. Keeping fingers crossed hoping no pumps are destroyed.

77 and sunny today. Had the air conditioning on when I drove. Also, I stopped at an Aldi's grocery along the way. They were almost fully stocked, however, they didn't have white mushrooms, only the 'baby Bella' kind.

The horror. The horror.

I have only been without water one time for a couple of days during an ice storm. The pipes froze. We just went next door to grandmothers and spent the night. I hope things get back to normal for y’all real soon!

Finally getting a break in NJ, 50 degrees outside right now. I opened the windows in my house to let some of the fart smell out, it was getting pretty thick in here.

Just heard the EPA REJECTED Texas' request to exceed current pollution standards ONLY during the winter emergency and ****tard biden's pick denied it

Plus, if that ****tard obama wouldn't had gotten the coal fired electrical plants shut down, there wouldn't have been any lack of electricity

Texas is all about freeing themselves from Federal regulation, and you think you can blame a former president?

Texans have nobody to blame but themselves for this fiasco.
