Does that mean that there were no moronic service men you had to deal with when you were serving, only civilians ? Kind of a broad statment, I served in in the great waste of mens lives in the 60's war and when I came home I was a civilian and maybe a little bit of a moron at times. You my friend are a civilian too so stop struggling and live.

Thank you guys. "I'm from California", I've been here since 1993 and yes, I'm planning on staying here.
What SFC refers is that civilians are not a bad group of people is that they have a different ethic. At 4 PM a civilian punches out and go home. At 4 PM a formation may be called and WE HAVE TO be there. Is not a civilian's problem that Tommy got a DUI, beat up his wife last night and he is doing poorly at work. If Tommy doesn't show up to work he may gets fired. In the military the leadership grab those issues and we have to "fix it". A DUI require charges, counseling and perhaps resident treatment. Domestic Violence, charges, treatment, sometimes we separate the couples by putting the military member in the barracks. If someone doesnt show up to work we look into it if the one is just a plain idiot we counseling them or charge depending on the number of incidents. Remember, in the military you signed a contract with X number of years depending on rank. The Marine Corps was great to me and I will always remember it. |

Congrats Pete, Thank you for your service.
I guess I'm probably one of the morons, I have never served nor even registered. They stopped the registration just before I turned 18 and started it up just after I turned 21 and I was never required to do it. I'm not rich but I make a decent living and enjoy a fairly safe home. However, I do have a good work ethic and I am very greatful to you who serve or have served to defend us. And I would be proud to buy you a beer and shake your hand. |
