reading these stories about how wrong the polling was again, i just have to laugh.

people are tired of being treated like lab rats for someone else's profit.

many, many years ago, sometime in the 1960s i think, they sent a psychiatrist down to McMurdo Station, Antarctica (were i later spent a year) to study the people trapped down there for the winter, to see how diverse people got along (or not) with one another for an extended period. an interesting field of study with application elsewhere (like for moon missions and space station crews and Mars missions).

well, it didn't go as planned. at all.

the people there figured out real quick who this guy was and what he was there for. and they basically shunned him. shut him out of social activities, wouldn't talk to him, wouldn't have a meal with him. made his life miserable.

the powers that be, upon learning of this treatment, learned their lesson, and that was the last guy sent down to do that type of work.

pollster calls me or visits: "go away".

Reminds me of a story I heard about the filming of the old Planet of the Apes.

There were actors of all backgrounds and dimensions playing Orangutan-like creatures and Chimp-like creatures. It was observed that regardless of the make up of person playing the part, when meal time came, the Orangutans would eat with Orangutans and chimps would eat with chimps.

Social segregation isn't forced. Desegregation is.
