Found money...sort of
Every evening when I get home I dump all the coins out of my pockets into a small plastic crate in the bed room. Been doing this for a number of years. Finally took it to the bank this morning and dumped it in their coin counter. Just over $317! Unfortunately I ended up spending over a third of it twenty minutes later at Petsmart on cat food, litter and other cat supplies.

I have a very large old European/Dutch/ 5 gallon milk jug....brass/bronze/copper, must be 100 years old, decades ago, I used to toss all my change in it, every evening.....maybe 12? years ago it was damn near full, and over the years I had stopped putting pennies in there, but into a 5 gallon ceramic pot....
so the ratio of 'silver' to pennies changes over the years..... so when count out time came it was 3500 bux manually counted.....and packaged....what a mess..... bank had no change counter at the time...not for public use anyway, they do today..... still have the pennies, about 3 gallons worth.... now here is the funny, the effect of 'plastic money'....after nearly a decade, the 'pot' had only 150 bux or so in it.... |

We did that for decades. Always nice to find a couple of hundred buck in your hands. Now I have one of those automatic coin sorters my kids got me for Christmas.

I ratholed coins for about 4 years and just cashed them in last fall. Almost $1300 worth. |
