My siblings and I used to hike to a reservoir about a mile from our grandfather's cabin. Once I was up there and a girl about a year older than me was carrying around a snapping turtle, using it's mouth as an ashtray. I lit a cigarette and asked her if I could borrow the ashtray, grabbed the turtle and washed it's mouth out in the lake, then set it free.
