Cool Track bed repair at Rough and Tumble for the kid's steam train.

"Little Toot" is the scaled down steam train that is run at the shows at Rough and Tumble. Over the decades, the track has worked it way down into the ground. We raised the track using a homemade crane and put 4x4s on top of the existing boards. ( attached pic)

Tom made the train car shown in the video to spread stone along the tarck to fill it back up. One of the other guys took it home and added an air powered shaker.

Now you just fill it and slowly push the car around as the stone is shaken out of the hopper car.

Pretty ingenious idea

NICE toy for kids and BIG kids too.......I been a model RR fan for some decades.....since the early 70's.....have retrieved my old GG1 Lionel O ga. loco from my sister's trash bin, I had given the setup to my niece/nephew to play with.....and got lucky in that it was found when she was tossing it out....so there it was on two pieces of track on the shelf in my 11th floor apt. one Sunday AM, and I set back reading the paper and in there was an add for trains for sale, it was Fall, nearing Xmas.....so I called/went to the guys house.....

he just sat there on the basement steps as I gasped and sighed over the walls full of old Lionel trains.......within a couple months I had TWO 4x8' plywood/2x4 train tables set up......and 3 operating trains.......met up with some other guys, and so a train club was set up, and once/month we alternate meets at one of the groups house/locations.....went on for damn hear 20 years, and I moved south, but the group still meets.....

After the divorce, I had a house with a THREE CAR GARAGE in the back yard....and so one of the bays was HVAC'd and I built a 22' long 11' wide operating layout with 3 levels and 5 operating trains at once on it.....along with my kids, daughter into painting of course, son helping with mechanicals.....they age 4&6 up to 13&15 when I moved south.....it wasn't the only project, but sufficed for winter weekends once in a while......
