My '72 got '89 vette wheels, and 50 series tires, so just lost an inch of sidewall height....but gained a hell of a lot in width 275/50/17 rear 255/50/17 front.....so handling is much improved of course.....and overall tire diameter is the same as stock other mods to suspension, steering, brakes, and a cross support between A arms.....of course..... |

the curse of computer modeling. we can now model in 3D anything, and reduce the mass to the bare minimum to withstand the anticipated forces it will see. but there is no fat built into those things, so if your guess of forces is off a bit, it will fail.

I was talking to a guy from the north about tall rims on his car while back, he buys extra as he bends or cracks 1 or 2 a year. Price of wanting the rims he said.
