Honda hands down. I've seen what the value and reliability with the GMC's do.

So I was told the new Blazer is the same size as the Acadia....don't like it being made in Mexico but might have to take a look at that too.

Another vote for Honda.

Gonna hi-jack your thread OP because this question doesn't need its own thread.
Anyone know of a site that measures/posts side-to-side legroom? I'm not a 7 foot tall mutant so I don't GAF how far forward I could conceivably stretch my legs were I an NBA player. The real measure of driver comfort for me is whether or not my legs are forced together by an obnoxiously wide center console or obxoxiously thick driver's side door pockets/panels/crap. |

I honestly don't get the trend of having a center console in trucks ans suvs that is connected to the dash, wasting all that potential legroom.
My 2005 F-150 still has a column shifter and I can lean my right leg into the middle of the cab. I'd like a newer truck or SUV in the near future and would like to avoid a stupid minivan, but it seems like the truck/suv pickings are slim when it comes to not being packed in like a sardine. We currently use the Mrs. RAV4 for road trips and it freaking sucks not being able to rest my legs comfortably like in my Truck. |

So I don't own either, but I do have an Acura MDX. Same platform as the Honda. This is our 3rd Acura, our 2nd MDX. All have been flawless. Nothing but normal maintenance. We just got back from a 1500 mile trip to the mountains, great travel, lots of room. Zero thoughts for a GM product, the replacement for this MDX will be a newer CPO MDX.

What turned me off with the RDX and MDX was they all need premium fuel.....at 50 cents a gallon or more then regular it's not something I want to deal with....the MDX was my first choice.

I honestly don't know why Honda gets all of the love these days. I think the reliability reputation has stuck with them from the days when they were lightyears better than the domestics. The reality is that as Honda has added more features, more electronics, and more powerful drivelines, they have ended up right on par with just about everybody else. The Honda engine will likely RUN forever. That is undeniable, but as far as actual overall build quality and luxury is concerned, I've never been impressed. From the dash to the seats, even the feel of the door mechanisms, everything about it seems cheap. I hate the seats almost as much as the "feel" of the drive. Yes, I realize those last 2 things are solely personal preference.
Good friend has a loaded up Pilot. I would actually give the edge to an Acadia Denali by a pretty large margin in terms of materials (yea, the Honda is actually worse than GM plastic). Look at the curves for the Pilot and the Acadia linked below. Real numbers. A big part of my life is buying and selling vehicles, and analyzing data and trends associated with those purchases. Beyond the 1st year, the Honda and Acadia are very similar in terms of YoY depreciation. Most of this 1st year loss is attributed to the big "sales" that GM has where new vehicles are sold significantly under sticker. Honda does not do this at nearly the same scale. The result is that the initial price is slightly skewed up on the GMC which makes the 1Y depreciation seem worse than it really is (unless you went and paid full boat retail for something). https://usedfirst.com/cars/gmc/acadia/ https://usedfirst.com/cars/honda/pilot/ Drive them... see what you like most. Buy that one. |

Because I like facts...
I overlayed the curves on top of each other using 2018 (as in a 1 year old used car) as the 0 point to account for the Y1 factor I mentioned. The Honda is the bottom line. The Acadia is the top. Short version... If you either buy used or buy 1 of the end of year closeouts to eliminate the 1Y depreciation on the Acadia, the GMC holds it's value just as well as the Pilot (slightly better). Yay math. |

In a previous thread, I was asking a price to sell my 2001 F-150 Crew Cab with 155k on the clock. I sold it for $3k and my 2005 Honda Accord LX for $1500 as a trade in for a 2016 Subaru Outback that had less than 24k miles.
I originally looked at the Honda Pilot, but after talking to some folks in parking lots, most did not like the car. One guy just bought a new one to tow with, and said it was the biggest mistake he made in that purchase. He rattled off several major issues with the suspension. Gas mileage was not that great. I settled on the Subaru after talking with several folks that had the car. Everyone was very happy with their purchase. |
