CL lowballers crack me up...

i posted an ad this evening for a Push mower I built today...Had 3 identical Toro Personal pace push mowers, one had a blown engine but a perfect deck and drive, but the controls were stuck...one was like brand new but the tranny was shot to hell, and one was worn out, but had just had brand new wheels/tires put on it before it was given to me.

So I put the perfect engine, one the perfect deck, and put on the new wheels, and used the good cables, all 3 were the same model number to boot...

Ended up with a perfect Toro mower, with perfect paint, controls, cables, engine, blade, drive system, even has electric start (works but batt is weak)...

These generally, optioned with the bumper up front, electric start, personal pace, etc..in this condition, working...sell around 200 bucks. This one is services, new air filter, plug, sharpened blade...new oil. And Ive priced it at 175.

Guy emails me..."Looks rough, might last a season, id go 75, call me"...

I replied "I wouldnt even let you borrow it, for 75"

Its a sweet mower, and people love these things. Last year I picked one up for 50 bucks, had a bent crank, but it got bent on the first usage, mower was 99.9% new. I had another tecumseh engine that was the same or similarm odel that someone had busted the flywheel on, trying to remove it like a dumbass. I swapped the crankshafts in about 45 minutes, and it ran like a new mower should. I wiped it down and stuck it on CL for 299.99 with a 90 day guarantee (something I never do), and it sold within 6 hours for $250 with a 30 day guarantee. Guy loves it, still emails me sometimes to tell me about how much he loves it..haha.

My best deal was a Snapper Hi-vac, commercial push mower, self propelled, bagger, 6hp Kawasaki OHV engine, was used but cleaned up. I paid 50 at a yard sale for it, not running. I put a plug in it, fresh gas, fired right up on 1 pull. I cleaned it up, sprayed some clear laquer on the deck and plastics to take away the fade...I put it on CL for 400, just for shits and grins...mofo emailed me the next morning..offering 350 if id take it...I DID.

$175.00 ? That's a bit high for a used mower imo though, but you never know until you try. You know better than I what they go for.

I have had someone ask me, on a previous sale, if the engine was number matching to the frame...which there is no way to know one way or the other, as there is no VIN or matching serial code...so I told him, "If it makes you happy...hell yeah man"...

The way I figure it, Ive sold 5 mowers this year, all push, no self propelled, all murray brand..with 3.5hp briggs engines. All were very clean, like this one, and ran right..but they all went quickly at 75-85. This one has personal pace self propelled, new wheels, all serviced, TORO brand, with a 6.5 engine, and electric start. I sold a Troy Bilt, self propelled, 5.5 briggs, last season for 150, and it was also very nice, sold in 45 minutes...lol.

Im hoping to end up around 150 on it, that will pay me for my time and service parts.
