Default My Yukons junk..whats next?

At 49k miles I'm on my second torque converter that is apparently failing (again) and the AC quit working via a failed AC condenser.

When i finally get the truck back from the shop i think I'm DONE with this thing. I had planned to keep this thing for 150k+ miles like every other GM ive owned, I'm so disappointed. My wifes Hyundai Sonata has had 1 warranty claim for the radio in 100k miles, i paid way way too much for this Yukon to be this poorly built.

So whats next? I seriously cant figure it out. My current plan is to try to sell the Denali and once its gone buy something else, but i may buy something before then, idk.

My requirements:
Must have comfortable power for dealing with houston traffic (re: big v8 preferred)
Must fit rear facing car seat and allow me to sit infront of it.
Cant be toyota/lexus (i worked for them for a short while fk ‘em)
Cannot be a CVT (not interested not at all)
Wont consider Ferds Eco boooth either.
I probably wont be buying another GM anytime soon
Price range is fairly open, the thought of something sub 40k would be nice and allow me to replace my wife's car sooner but i guess i need to decide on a vehicle first.

I had a Ram rental last week, it was nice but seemingly missing side collision warnings, and the drivers seat needs more support on the front of the seat.
I was dead set on a BMW 750i for a while but the hot V motors are apparently time-bombs.
I plan to go test drive the BMW 540’s but I'm not sure it'll fit our rear facing car seat, I'm afraid the 740 is just too big a car for such a small motor.

Im sort of liking the Dodge Challengers low price of entry, i may go test drive to see if it'll fit the car seat.

Ive driven the ford pick up’s but similar to the dodge i found their seats to be too unsupportive. Is it unreasonable to think a local upholstery shop could add some support at the front of a seat? My knees start to really hurt if im not in a deep enough seat.

so what should i go test drive?

I know a really good transmission guy that will do you right if you want to give it one last try. He's not too far from us. He built my 460LE in my truck and upgraded with some Corvette modifications. His shop isn't pretty but that transmission is awesome. Firm shifts and no issues. for about 6 years now.

I own two Lexus SUVs both over 10 years old and both have had nothing but standard maintenance done.

Also, the condition of both after all this time is remarkable. Both leather and plastic parts hold up incredibly well vs. other brands I've owned.

2006 - GX470 - 90,000 Miles

2009 - RX350 - 130,000 Miles

Outside of a toy or a company truck, I won't have anything but a Lexus or Toyota moving forward for daily drivers.

The Yukon’s still under warranty. Even if Powertrain was solid I’m beginning to worry about the rest of the car...failed A/C?! Cmon.

Sounds like you've ruled out a lot of possibilities for one reason or another. We've had great luck with the last two Ford Explorers we've had, both with the EcoBoost, but you've ruled those out for some reason too.

You're considering pickups, a Dodge Challenger and BMWs. Can you get more specific on what you really want?

Before I bought the denali I drove an explorer sport, im not sure the back seat is big enough and the noticeable boost lag was as bad as my Duramax. As soon as ford puts a V8 in the expedition I’ll go check it out.

Honestly my needs are to and from work and an occasional road trip, must fit huge car seat in back, cars and trucks both fit the bill. So I’m trying to be open (ish).
The car seat has cramped the front seat in the yukon which is whats pushing me to go look at full size sedans with potentially bugger back seats. The Ram fit the car seat no problem.

Ram Laramie 2500 w/ Cummins 6.7

2017 or higher.

meets all of the requirements except V8 engine but the power is still there and gets better mileage.

Tempting...it seems some have the console and others have a fold down front middle seat..was it just an option? Or is there a specific trim needed?

Damn, Chris, you've had some bad luck with vehicles. We still have an '04 Silverado at our shop, with over 230K, and it's got cold a/c that's never been touched. We've put two clutches into it though, but thankfully those aren't too expensive. The rest of the drive train's never been touched other than plugs, wires, filters, etc. I'm not even sure if we've replaced any of the coil packs.....can't remember.

I had my duramax right where i wanted it mechanically when i sold it, but the long bed just didn't work well in downtown, and no rear AC was concerning with the baby in the back.

Trim level. My RAM 1500 Bighorn has the fold down middle seat. A higher trim level has the console, at a higher price, of course.

F150 Super Crew with the 5.0. It may fit your needs. If you don't mind a lower trim level You may be able to get one for sub $40K. STX is a nice appearance package.

My 5 year old Ram Limited has been good if you don't count the recalls. Again, standard maintenance only but it only has 30,000 miles.

I lost count of recalls. Luckily the dealership is on the way home from work.
