Default USAF Museum
Just got back from our trip to the museum at WPAFB near Dayton, OH.
Of course the weather was crappy, traveled with a good crowd. Have been there twice before, wanted to see the new to me 4th hanger. The guys that flew some of the experimentals............huge big brass ones........

Aircraft equivalent of riding the short bus. I believe the model designation was XF-C6.

Nicknamed the Goblin. It was a proof of concept experiment for a parasite fighter plane to be carried in one of the bomb bays of a B-36. It had no landing gear, the pilot had to hook onto a trapeze that extended from the bottom of the bomber. It didn't work worth a crap.

Reminds me of National Air and Space Museum Chantilly Va. out I66 from DC....it's next to Dulles apt...IAD......takes about 2 days to do that place justice....

Love that place. I'm less than an hour away so I try to make it up there every so often, especially now with the little guy. "Airplane!!!" was 1 of his first words.
