After he retired from painting, my dad and I were both guards together at one point. There was a KFC next door to our area. He scared away some hold up men. I wasn't even there, but from then on we both got free leftovers after closing time

Mz Friz and I were talking about our early days recently. She was still in college, I was out by a year and working a crappy interim job. There was one month where she managed to feed us on $75 for the whole month. I had forgotten all about it....Looking back, I remembered eating a lot of burger, beans, and rice. There weren't any extras, but we never took a penny of help. The first few years were a struggle financially, but it was a great time nonetheless....we had a lot of fun. 25 years on, we still are....and we appreciate everything we have now.
People like you and Ms Friz give folks like me hope. Longterm relationships are rare now days, and seeing someone going strong after 25 years and reaping the rewards of their labor is awesome..

Look, no one has dealt more with the corporate culture from the field than me, but I would rather be the guy pulling the strings than getting my strings pulled

Speaking of corporate, anyone see what happened to my old employer CARQUEST Auto Parts?

That's one corporate office I'm glad I'm not still with

Sup guys?? Speaking of work, that is where I use to do a lot of my Barn burning but recently the the IT guys have gotten too restrictive about personal use on company networks. And if someone doesn't think they monitor, just go to a restricted site and see how quick you get a call from them. I never got a call from them but have seen it. I don't think they would have a problem with VB but some of the links I have clicked on could have possibly gotten their attention.

I'm in lower management but still management none the less. I've been doing this for 17 yrs after doing the hourly thing for 15 yrs before that. You guys have hit the nail on the head about corporate crap. It gets harder everyday and those brilliant idiots do their best to make you want a career change or pray for retirement. We do have a healthy 401K at the moment but not good enough to retire and will need the next 10 yrs to build on it.

Duke, I envy you for having the time to spend with your son. I'm very close to my sons but forfeited a lot of my life under the pretense trying to "give them a better life".

And Friz, I envy you to for having the will power to hold back on what you could have today in order to have better life later on. And especially to retire early.

And Jon, congrats on the change. I hope it goes well for you. It sounds like you have a good head (except for your affiliation with this group).
