Default How does this happen?

So when I took my header off there was a clanking inside of it. I turned it over and a spark plug fell out! An AC Delco plug with anti seize on the threads and although it's a little rusty it doesn't appear to have ever seen any use as the business end looks brand new.

So my question is... How does one drop a plug down the header? Even if the header was off the head and you were putting new plugs in you'd still have to pretty much put it in there deliberately. Weird.

The only scenario I could see in how that might happen still doesn't make any sense, as no one in their right mind would install the plugs in the head before bolting the headers up.

Very weird. I'm also surprised it didn't make a noticeable rattle with the car running.

This was the first time I've had the headers off so it wasn't me! Not that there aren't cars out there with my special signature.

Whoever installed the headers realized they were hitting the plugs trying to get them into place. Remove the plug for clearance an OOOPS. Probably had it almost in and didn't want to take it back out to shake the plug out.
