Which pulley?
I'm getting some mixed info on which power steering pulley is a direct replacement for my 2000. I'm looking for the one that's metal and has spokes to replace my solid plastic one, LS3 maybe?
I don't think the original one will work anymore.

I'm looking for the same one I'm going to try and find it today I'll let you know if I get one. If I have to I could put mine back on I didn't break it when I took it off although it was a pain to get off.
Did you do this to get to the Alternator bracket?

I had the bracket off with the pump still attached but couldn't get the hose to the steering rack off the pump so I broke out the hammer and BAM! I was really hoping to save the pulley but I ran out of commitment to that idea.

Might I ask what the intention of the job is?

I am going to powder coat or paint my alt bracket, throttle body and alternator. I had to pull the TB and PS reservoir for my nitrous plate so I figured while I'm in there...

I guess my question would have been why didn't you just remove the PS hose at the pinion housing to remove the whole assembly, but if you're stripping down to the bare alt bracket, there's really no easy way w/o getting that stock PS pulley out of the way first.
Once the spoked pulley is in place, this will never be an issue again...but then again, will there ever be a "next time"? |
