The point of the song is absolutely true. I grew up in a very small town, moved to Atlanta 33 years ago, and just moved back to the same very small town. Things work differently here...better.

Typical "crying in your beer" country song - just needs the dog to run away, pickup to crap out and a cheating wife. Appreciate the sentiment but there are 200 people that could have made the song within 25 miles of me.

I miss the old days of vinyl records you could play backwards and the dog comes home, the truck starts up and the wife stays loyal.

And there is plenty of crime in small towns....I live in one.

Here is where I think these artists go wrong. Don't "defend" it.

All he had to say was "If you don't like it, don't listen to it" and leave it at that.

He's not forcing kids to hear it at school.
He's not telling kids to listen to it, but don't tell their parents.

My parents grew up in the South Bronx in the 20's and 30's. They told stores of how the "Neighborhood" reacted to ferals. The "Small town" is a shared value in a community and a refusal to allow others to trample those values.

What we have today is large population areas lead by people whose political philosophy has destroyed those community value and replaced them with a dependence on the central committees
